An elderly man was found near an escalator in the store, and police said a young black man was being sought as the suspected shooter. Early indications were that as many as five people may be injured.
Colby Barak told KETV NewsWatch 7 that she was on lockdown inside Westroads Mall. She said she was doing Christmas shopping at Younkers, and an announcement was made that no one would be allowed to leave.
Just before 2 p.m., Barrett said, another announcement was made that shoppers could leave but would not be allowed back in.
Dozens of police and sheriff's cars were arriving at the mall.
A description of the shooter, broadcast over scanners, was that he was in an Army-green vest and was holding a rifle.
Another Westroads shopper, Kathy, told KETV NewsWatch 7 that she heard three pops. She said a Bath and Body Works manager approached her and told her to get out of the mall hallway as there was a situation, and a shooter had not been located.
This shooting is a template for the jihadists. Imagine what two jihadists with automatic weapons could do.
Mall cops should be armed, shopkeepers should be armed, and citizens must be allowed to carry.
I’ve been predicting this as a jihadist thing for months, actually for about a couple of years now. This guy appears to be a 19 yr old white guy with a depression issues. So, no jihadis here.
I think we will see something very similar at several malls all at once if they were a cell or something. Not one place, but several at the same time. That’s the only way they could ensure they got many many people and security procedures weren’t put in place the next day around the country.
I've heard from someone I knew how an officer from the Reno Police Department came up to him while seated in front of a meal at a Mexican restaraunt and asked if he was carrying a firearm. He told the cop 'Yes, and I have a permit'. The policeman said 'Alright, show me your CCW license and we're done here'. Issue settled in a moment. Asked how the policeman knew he was carrying a gun, he was told that one of the restaurant workers noticed that she saw a gun in a holster in his waistband when he went for his wallet to pay at the counter before he sat down to his meal.
Why did they call the cops? Well, they're Mexican. Guns are illegal in Mexico. Naturally, all guns everywhere are illegal.
The manager/owner apologized for his counter person and said it would never happen again, but that still makes one Mexican restaurant in town that won't be getting my business.
Yeah, there’s a couple places in town that lost a massive amount of business when they stuck photocopied “No Guns Allowed” signs in their windows here in the Colorado Springs area. One is a (I think now former) City Councilman who runs a book store. As soon as I saw the sign in the window, I went in and told him he was losing my business. He asked why, I pointed to the sign and said “You leftist, incorrect views of guns for one”.
He started a dissertation on why guns were “wrong” and I just walked out. Since then I KNOW of at least a couple of hundred people he lost as customers. Most were willing to overlook his ‘liberal rage’ and still shop in his book store (used books), but when he made it a point to force it on people then we took it to the pocket book. I know his store isn’t doing well (ok, well as defined as it used to be doing better).
So, while we didn’t “close him down” (and I don’t want to do that to any business...) he did get a message. LAST time I went past there I didn’t see the signs any more.
PAP ! vapid, vacuous.
That's extremely unlikely anyway. The point of CCW is no one knowing about it.
Thank you for your critical and enlightening review.
Rather than respond to you again, I think I’ll just waste my time pondering the intricate nuances of your last post.

As soon as his family was notified, little ROBBY’S PICTURE WAS ALL OVER THE NEWS. This is about the criminally insane, and they can be any color.
That lady is in trouble. She said he smoked marijuana in his room and apparently, there is other background about drugs in her home. She’s liable for something imo. A nurse no less.
That's how workers' compensation works. Then, the families can sue everybody as well. This will generate tons of lawsuits. Why don't people understand that with criminal activity there are also civil penalties.
Ever heard of a guy named OJ?
He picked off customer service or gift wrap cuz those people had no way out. A lady hid in the bathroom by customer service and apparently, she was able to lock the door. She heard the massacre and now she’s obviously suffering from post traumatic stress. She was cryin’ on Fox this morning retelling of her time in the employee restroom waiting and listening.
NPR for opera and for jazz. I turn All Things Considered off since it’s just things they considered.
This is going to be a litigious affair of major proportions.
That woman, the nurse, is one big time dummy. She went to work instead of alerting the authorities and wondered what all the trauma was about there - a real “uh oh” moment.
A witness said a Von Mauer employee escorted people from JC Penneys outside. The swat team was outside. Is that SOP?
“Robby” stole $17 bucks from the register. He was fired for theft.
Good point. and McDonald's customers too.
workers’ compensation for the dept. store(s) will sue cuz they are already writing checks to the families of the fallen and treating the victims until they reach MMI. And, that nurse where the kid stayed had drugs in the home and stated the shooter smoked pot in his room at her house.
