A group that opposes interaction between religion and government Tuesday accused Liberty University Chancellor Jerry Falwell Jr. of violating federal tax law by using the school's resources to endorse Republican presidential candidate Mike Huckabee. The group also asked the Internal Revenue Service to investigate.
In a complaint filed with the IRS, Americans United for the Separation of Church and State (AU) noted that Falwell hosted the former Arkansas governor at a university event last Wednesday in Lynchburg, Va,

I thought this exactly the kind of tactics that Satan and the Left loves..I will love and forgive Mr. Lynd for this, but I DO NOT like him at all, and I DO have a vested interest (whomever Jerry Falwell Jr. endorses) as both a Christian, and a Graduate of Falwell's Liberty University!
There is no "seperation of Church-and-state" and Mr. Lynd would never have done this had this been a liberal christian university endorsing Hillary Clinton or Barak Obama!!...

There are increasingly Evangelical churches that would love to do the same thing to conservatives. It’s really a shame.

There are plenty of South Carolina black pastors endorsing Hillary and Obama. Is Barry Lynn going to demand an IRS investigation?

If churches stepped up and stopped their claim to tax exempt status they could endorse whom ever they wanted without the thumb of the government in their ass.

If religious leaders wish to endorse politicians, they should consult James Dobson for advice on how to do it legally Back in 2005, Barry Lynn demanded an IRS investigation of Focus of the Family. After a year long audit, the IRS couldn’t find any dirt on Focus on the Family.

Lynd is a loser, but so is Huckabee. Unfortunately, I think Falwell’s endorsement is based only on the Huckster’s status as a Baptist preacher, with all other issues being ignored.

Falwell hosted the former Arkansas governor at a university event last Wednesday in Lynchburg, Va., and later sent out an e-mail message on school letterhead endorsing Huckabee. If they did use school resources to endorse the liberal candidate, they did in fact violate federal law.

Well, I think Falwell was stupid to endorse Huckabee, but it’s his constitutional right as a citizen. I doubt whether he did it in his official capacity at the university.
Barry Lynd is a creep.

The IRS tax law is an unconstitutional infringement on religious expression and free speech by the federal government.
The government should have no authority to grant or withdraw any benefits based on political speech, and especially on religious political speech.
