Was in Michigan this summer (visiting from New York).

My wife was astounded that they would offer us ashtrays in a bar.

Another good example of how the Democrats know what’s best for you. Too bad your too dumb to realize it.

Backers say a majority of state residents want a broad workplace smoking ban, and point to the harmful effects of secondhand smoke on employees and patrons.

Second hand smoke is like global warming - a scare tactic based on rigged science in order to gain more control over our lives.

Opponents say smoking is legal and government shouldn't interfere with the rights of private property owners.

And that is the real nub of the matter, eliminating private and individual property rights.

Casinos, horse tracks, bingo halls, cigar bars and smoke shops would be exempt from the smoking ban.

For now, and only to dampen opposition to this power grab. Once it is accepted elsewhere these locales will fall, also.

And with Hitlery health care they’ll need to ban:

- red meat
- fried foods
- white bread
- etc. etc.

Yes, run the state economy into the ground and now ban smoking. Is their any Republican in that state who wants to take victory from them?

Why should anyone be exempt, namely casinos? Anyone know how that happened? Everyone is equal, but some are more equal than others? -- George Orwell, Animal Farm

If tobacco is as horrible as they say, let's ban it. Remove the tax dollars from government, and let the black market have the money. And adding tobacco to the failed war on some drugs should just about cause the whole farce to collapse.

Then we can unleash government on the nannies themselves, most of whom are overweight food addicts. Won't that be a hoot?

Many bars will institute a one time five dollar lifetime membership to skirt similar laws. Here in KC back in the 30s for a bar to be open on Sunday they had to serve food. So each table had a sandwich in the center that no one was allowed to touch. People will do whatever they have to to get around such laws.

Yup, thank goodness they’re finally taking steps to strengthen our languishing economy, crippling unemployment, and bloated government.

This state resident thinks it’s a busy-body, Big Sister Jenny-bot, idea and I don’t even smoke.

Hope it fails.
