I visited Tigby Island in Maryland and a seafood luncheon at a local eatery. It was praised to high heaven in the tourist literature.

We sat at long tables and shared, family style. The server brought out massive platters of veggies and cornbread and rolls and ....ham.

Being starved, most dug in. Two ladies were frustrated because all we got was ham and they couldn’t eat ham. Finally they broke down and ate the ham because they couldn’t Pay the big bucks for the boat ride and free lunch and then not eat.

Just as they scarfed the ham, out came the crab cakes, the shrimp and the clam fritters. It was late but outstanding.

That was a genuine dilemma....eat the ham or pay for a lunch you didn’t get

Because we Jews have to have everything free, ha ha, right? We are also some of the most generous philanthropic people on earth.
