If they receive more letters about this, it's possible it may accomplish something.

Like what?

It's just a movie.

If your faith is so weak as to be thereatened by a movie, you have larger issues.

If your faith is so weak as to be thereatened (sp) by (insert whatever propaganda I'm defending here)...

Of course, the fallacy inherent in this older-than-the hills rebuttal is the assumption that anyone's personal faith is threatened by such satanic propaganda.

It's mankind that is threatened by atheism and satanism, as evidenced by the body counts that follow everywhere such belief systems have ever taken hold. To not stand up to them is an absolute betrayal of any believer's faith.

Perhaps that threatens you?

This is not about adults, this is about influencing children.

Children who see stories and are influenced. As hilter said, “who cares what you think, we have the minds of your children.” Gold Compass was written to be an attack on religion, the author was obsessed with CS Lewis or rather attacking CS Lewis. Draw you into the propaganda and then reveal the message at the end.

(didn’t you ever read “the wave”?)

It’s not my faith that is the issue, it’s the DENIGRATION of Christianity and Christians that’s at issue here. I’ve seen a couple of ads for this film that are rather disturbing in their pointed message, to wit: Christians are ignorant narrow-minded Luddites who would rather live in ignorance than open their minds to witchcraft and magic (Satanism for those in Rio Linda).

I’m open minded, but not so open minded that my brains have fallen out.

It's just a movie.

Do you believe that movies have no influence on children?

If your faith is so weak as to be thereatened by a movie, you have larger issues.

Strawman argument. It's not one's faith that is threatened; but if a movie comes out that insults your family, or someone you love, that movie is going to be in your cross-hairs as a target to be disparaged.
I'm sure you agree.
That being said. From the early reviews it sounds like this movie is similar to the tree that fell in the forest with no one around to hear...

Exactly. I’m supposed to be mad at Coca Cola because they support a movie that was written by an atheist? I guess I should just stop eating and drinking altogether, then, since every food and drink company advertises in at least some realm of Hollyweird. I have better things to do with my time.
