I haven't read the whole article yet. If it's open through the end of the month, I'll have to nip in there one more time while I'm home.
Thanks! I clicked on this thread hoping for some good BBQ porn. That looks fantastic! The fries are perfect, too.
I like Tommys for the mess and the ambiance (leaning against the shelf on the wall to eat) but it’s not the best burger, for my money. Of course at 3 in the morning, who cares. And it has to be the original location.
Beverly and Rampart, where businessmen in suits stand in line with hungry hobos to get a Tommy's Burger.
The Owl Bar, San Antonio, New Mexico.
Nothing compares to a green chile cheeseburger.
The self against the wall eating position is the classic. Along with being open 24/7. I don’t think we ever ate there before 11 PM or after 5 AM.

And, to top it off, we loved to go GRUNION HUNTING.
Yeah, I’m from the L.A. area.
Every time we had to go down to stallion gate end of the range we made effort to stop there !
ICON of our trade IMO ! Then of course we could gun up and hit Mom's K&I on
Broadway ! Used to be a little place across from the Fairgrounds on Central called the Adobe Rose or Pink Adobe ?!?!? That was good eating as well.....and a little Messkin takeout place downtown under the overpass near 3rd that was hard core Mexican Food...all takeout vs sit down. Long worthwhile lines !
And the best was the green chili stew at the Bowling alley there on base.....cheap eats there. Big bowl w/ 2 large tortilla's and a drink was like 2 dollars ? Awesome stuff !
Man I gotta road trip now and get my butt down to the Owl !
THANKS !
It’s not the BBQ...Otto hamburgers is what this wonderful place is known for...
I admit to loving both..
Looks good. Now add jack cheese to complement the chilies....
At the gun show I did find some LED lights that I wanted at a really good price so I snarfed them. There were no deals on ammo at all. None, zero period. I found a couple of rifles that I wanted but wasn't going to pay gold plated prices for them either.
I didn't find what I really wanted so I came home and started smoking a brisket.
Picture at Otto's of FReeper Thackney, friend Ziggy and me. Not sure who is who........
If ya really like the little LED light’s and other every day carry (EDC) ..... here is a great little site to surf........
Gadgets & ideas galore !
Some good ideas as well..... One I liked was a modified leatherman tool that replaced one of the fold out tools (a punch I think) and replaced it with a spare house or car key that folds into the same area.......new car keys with RFID or coded chip make it more house key for me......
Did ya go with gunner ? He said he got a new toy there at the show !
Stay safe !
LOL!!!
And the food pictures are torturing me.
Must go sleep now.
Naw, didn't see him there.
I did see some bright yeller & red books for sale!
