Damn! I love Otto's.

I haven't read the whole article yet. If it's open through the end of the month, I'll have to nip in there one more time while I'm home.

Thanks! I clicked on this thread hoping for some good BBQ porn. That looks fantastic! The fries are perfect, too.

I like Tommys for the mess and the ambiance (leaning against the shelf on the wall to eat) but it’s not the best burger, for my money. Of course at 3 in the morning, who cares. And it has to be the original location.

It has to be the original location.

Beverly and Rampart, where businessmen in suits stand in line with hungry hobos to get a Tommy's Burger.

The Owl Bar, San Antonio, New Mexico.

Nothing compares to a green chile cheeseburger.

The self against the wall eating position is the classic. Along with being open 24/7. I don’t think we ever ate there before 11 PM or after 5 AM.

Hell yeah. Tommy's is the kind! Hey Jeff. Were you from LA. at one point? Seems like you know where to grind.

I was born in Montebello.
I grew up in La Mirada.
My father worked for Knudsen Creamery.
My parents watched Sandy Koufax pitch a perfect game.
We went to Rams games at the Coliseum.
We went to Kings and Laker games at the Forum.
A couple of my classmates were (are) in the movie industry.
Our school field trips were to the Griffith Park Observatory, the Museum of Science and Industry, the La Brea Tar Pits, etc.
I body surfed and SCUBA dived from Ensendada to Santa Barbara.
We went deep sea fishing out of Norm’s Landing.
We listened to Dr. Demento on KPPC FM.
We dove for scallops next to Marineland.
We went to the Laserium show when it first opened.
We went to a Chicago/Beach Boys concert at Anaheim Stadium.
We ate at Tommy’s in formal clothes after the prom.
I taught SCUBA diving at the Long Beach YMCA.
When I had money I would take dates to the Ports of Call Restaurant in San Pedro, making sure to drive over the Vincent Thomas Bridge.
When I was broke, I would take dates to the Los Angeles Arboretum or the Huntington Library.

And, to top it off, we loved to go GRUNION HUNTING.

Yeah, I’m from the L.A. area.

THERE YA GO !

Every time we had to go down to stallion gate end of the range we made effort to stop there !

ICON of our trade IMO ! Then of course we could gun up and hit Mom's K&I on

Broadway ! Used to be a little place across from the Fairgrounds on Central called the Adobe Rose or Pink Adobe ?!?!? That was good eating as well.....and a little Messkin takeout place downtown under the overpass near 3rd that was hard core Mexican Food...all takeout vs sit down. Long worthwhile lines !

And the best was the green chili stew at the Bowling alley there on base.....cheap eats there. Big bowl w/ 2 large tortilla's and a drink was like 2 dollars ? Awesome stuff !

Man I gotta road trip now and get my butt down to the Owl !

THANKS !

There is still an Otto's in Stafford as this is the one on Memorial Dr. inside loop 610. I have only eaten at this one once because it is off my path but it sure was good.

At the gun show I did find some LED lights that I wanted at a really good price so I snarfed them. There were no deals on ammo at all. None, zero period. I found a couple of rifles that I wanted but wasn't going to pay gold plated prices for them either.

I didn't find what I really wanted so I came home and started smoking a brisket.

Picture at Otto's of FReeper Thackney, friend Ziggy and me. Not sure who is who........

If ya really like the little LED light’s and other every day carry (EDC) ..... here is a great little site to surf........

http://www.edcforums.com/

Gadgets & ideas galore !

Some good ideas as well..... One I liked was a modified leatherman tool that replaced one of the fold out tools (a punch I think) and replaced it with a spare house or car key that folds into the same area.......new car keys with RFID or coded chip make it more house key for me......

Did ya go with gunner ? He said he got a new toy there at the show !

Stay safe !

That picture is scaring me.

And the food pictures are torturing me.

Must go sleep now.
