Actually one of the local shops was taking a 8” python to the show, which was a pretty good price. I’m hoping somebody snags it so I don’t have to choose between it and a NIB lightweight commander in .38 Super that I know about.
If ya bought’em both we could share!
I got just the gun for ya! A old rusty damascus barreled hammer double, load a couple magnum duck loads and it will be deja vu all over again!
Never ate at the bowling alley, except the one down on 4th with Sadies in it. That was during my first visit in ‘88.
When I moved to NM in ‘92 my first dinner out was at the new Sadies. The food was just as good, but it wasn’t the same.
Sounds like a party with my name all over it!
Kinda makes my old heart swell up when I think about y'all thinking about me.
; < )
I actually do have this gun. I leave it outside the safe so if some homeboy steals it and saws it off, he’s gonna get a huge surprise the first time he squeezes one off.
Thos are GREAT books.......:o)
Easier to get forgiveness than permission.......Mrs Slim will get over it in a few years !
Buy Both !!
Mrs. Slim and I have a strict don’t ask don’t tell policy concerning guns and clothes.
The last time she really noticed was when I had to make 2 trips from the car to get the new ones in.
You buy that many clothes?
Mostly pink?
LOL......Open the gun safe and her shoe closet and count em .......then again I’ll bet you’d lose on that count as well, I would. My dream is too have more gun safes than she has shoes !!
That is a lot of clothes !
Really? How did that happen?
The seller had several tables of new books, mostly gun related and adventure types. I was distracted by some shiny guns and kept going.
Glad to hear it!
Well, I’ll be. Or, better, “I swan.” That’s geezerette-ish enough.
I haven’t gotten out of my cave in so long that I haven’t had an Otto’s burger in a coon’s age, but used to really love ‘em. Lots of mayo. Didn’t care much for their BBQ, tho, so never went to that side - it was a “whole ‘nuther world,” lol, so I missed 41 & 43 - but saw 41 at Pino’s once.
Used to also really love Roznovski’s burgers not far away - and they got driven out, too. I hear they’re still around in a new place, but I haven’t been there, either.
But then, I never got over the demise of Gourmet Burgers, either, lol. Different kinds of burgers, all of them. I liked their mushrooms and Swiss cheese, but wouldn’t ever have one like that anywhere else.
Also back then, Brittain’s Broiler-Burgers chili-cheeseburger #3 was my must-have and it’s also hard to beat WhataBurgers for just plain drive-thru convenience - if you like mustard burgers, which I do.
Love NM green chile cheeseburgers, too - best I had was somewhere out on a backroad between Santa Fe and maybe ... hmmm ... not sure where that little place is. Only went there with a friend who lived in that neck of the woods.
It was probably up the road from Espanola towards Chimayo, or possibly between Espanola and Dixon. Traveled both frequently. This was just a little stand on the side of the road, nothing else around. A few tables outside and a ton of customers getting to-go orders.
Have you checked out some of the Route 66 websites? Tons of memories there! Motels with “deluxe cabins” available, some of them “teepees,” heh heh, and real “service stations” with attendants in uniforms, perhaps some free glassware with a fill-up, and Burma-Shave signs!
We bugged our mother to please, please PLEASE can we stop?
When we got there, some old guy guided us knobby kneed Eastern kids out back, up some wooden stairs that led to a circular pen or corral that we looked down into.
In the middle of this .. ohhh, maybe 30 or 40 foot corral .. was a pool of muddy water about 10 or 15 ft across .. and in it was a fairly large crocidile or alligater or something that did NOT resemble the pictures on the signs we passed on the road.
I think we were charged a dime or something for this experience.
I came away with a memory and a cheap wooden tomahawk (probably 'made in Japan').
WHAT A BURGER! Looks perfect.
Well, I didn’t want to mash the ruffles.
