I’m not sure the media has created this. He was getting virtually no press until he began polling well. I think the media is just reporting this one. Now it’s true that the media attention helps once that starts. But Huckabee’s campaign is what is making this happen. Politics is about seeing people, pressing the flesh, word of mouth, making speeches, being on the stump. It always has been, and it always will be.

I think the media wants to attack Huckabee like all other Republicans but haven’t devised a strategy to do so competently. They eventually will get something to stick but need time to dig for some dirt. The question remains: will that come before or after the Iowa caucus? The media meanwhile cannot ignore the front-runner, and smearing him as a pro-life Baptist attracts rather than detracts American voters.
Rush suggested last week that Huck is the drive-by candidate because he polls so incredibly poorly against Hillary and Obama. The drive bys can smash him if he knocks out any of our leaders-—which they have not been able to do on their own, yet.
