Huckabee could sell ice to eskimos. A bona fide snake oil salesman.

Perfect description.

Then you should know the S Vietnamese who would love the opportunity to vote. Rather, since the candidate may not march lockstep w/you, you trash your vote.

Why not be honest and vote for Harpy since that is what you’re really doing. If you want us Republicans to suffer for not voting for your candidate.

If I don’t like Tancredo and he gets the nomination, shouldn’t I not vote for him since my candidate isn’t on the ballot??

Amazing comment.

There’s NO equating what I’m
talking about with the savages
who’ve sworn to destroy those
who don’t practice their radical,
Neanderthal, wahabbist cult and to

And you know it.

Great post, Chuck...

1. Many of "us" would be OK with Rudy; after all he's not Clinton/Obama/Democrat but he's no Reagan either.

In my Repub circles, Rudy is the choice. But then I'm a NYer. My only fear if he is the nominee is those who will stomp their feet, take their ball and go home.

2. Some of "us", not me, would be OK with Huck. Why? I just don't see him as my President. He is very weak on foreign policy, immigration, & taxes just for starters.

The more I hear the fawning for Huck, the more I tune him out. Clinton Inc. would eat him for lunch. Please, wake up folks--he is a disaster!

3. Fred? Many of "us" would be OK with him, me included. Is he electable? Maybe; but he's got to pick up the pace.

Come on, Fred, you're a Leo...grab that spotlight you big cats love (think Bubba, Obama) and be the center of attention!

4. Mitt? Good man? Definitely, but I don't think he's electable but that's jmho.

I think Mitt is very electable...and he is very handsome, his wife is lovely and he has a nice family. Look at those pics of Mitt & Ann with George H.W. and Barbara--very presidential.

5. What "us/we" must decide is who among our plethora of candidates will pull the most votes from the "undecideds", is truly electable, and back him 100%, even if we have to hold our noses and "pull the lever".

And quit the bickering...it makes Mrs. Clinton do cartwheels of glee.

6. Or we can all pull for our very own #1 "makes me feel good" candidate and then bitch, moan, and gnash our teeth for the next 8 + years while the Democrats take this country rapidly toward their ultimate goal. Socialism.

America vs. Socialism...we are voting for the FUTURE of our nation.

Thanks Didi, that idea is such a waste. To imagine people in Iran, Cuba and China w/o the right to vote and we act like it is no big deal. Simply because a candidate isn’t “conservative” enough I won’t vote.

Whoever wins the election did it because he got more votes than the other person. The people have spoken whether we agree or not. That is a Democracy and what our Founders built.

To throw that vote away is to dishonor them and every person longing for Freedom. Look at the Iraqis w/the Purple Fingers. You dishonor them.

Pray for W and Our Troops

So, if Hillary wins by one vote - having her as POTUS versus Rudy, Mike or John serves you well?

If Rod doesn’t answer, well I will....

First, come on...it’s way too early to be getting all wowed about some candidate running high in the polls and don’t forget, a lot of these polls are in NH and Iowa. These two states have early primaries and get a lot of hype but in the end neither state is famous for being any kind of indicator of either who’s going to get nominated, much less elected.

McCain is not going to get elected....he always polls well in NH, I think he even won there in 2000. But he’s not going to get elected and his wussy immigration stance ain’t the reason why.

Huckabee is this year’s designated media darling. He’s new, fresh, speaks well, looks neat and resembles Mr. Rogers of the Neighborhood, anyone remember him? He ain’t gonna get the Republican nomination....so he won’t likely get elected.

My point being I think you’re reading entirely too much in those polls which right now mean nothing save the media having some fun with us. Which is not to say I disagree with your premise that you don’t think immigration will be as big an issue as many of us do. Although I do disagree, MN, because I think Americans across the board are sick of this illegal problem. Beyond my hunch, I’ll admit, I can’t offer concrete polls to back me up but I think I’m right.

As for Snugs...well listen up....Fred Thompson is holding back, at least as I analyze and you may take me for what I’m worth. Again, my hunch is that Fred does not want to wear himself out. It takes discipline but there is almost a whole YEAR until the election. What’s to be gained for Fred to get out there and risk a fatal mistake? I believe when the time is right the Repub base is going to go big time for Fred. Just a hunch.

I went to a Christmas event this past week in Georgetown Delaware that could be, if one leaves the main drag and travels the back roads, be mistaken for a South American barrio. The mighty chicken industry of Delaware needs workers and I live right in the middle of this mess.

Anyway, they sang EVERY Christmas carol in English AND Spanish. There were Spanish choirs and a Spanish band of some kind performed on a great big thing that looked like a giant xylophone. I closed my eyes and listened and it sounded wonderful.

Those band members played with all their heart, those choirs sang with conviction...they were all healthy fine folks and I’ve met many in my travels. I don’t hate these people, most of whom are here illegally, go on. In fact, all I could think as their pretty and deep-felt music wafted past my ears is hey, all they have to do is come here LEGALLY!

Americans don’t dislike these people either. Goodness why would we? They work hard and generally keep a low profile no matter the hysteria about illegal criminals and hospital ER’s. Here in Delaware they don’t have car insurance and Biden...God love him, hasn’t yet given them a chance to get a Delaware license. It’s a problem but we’re not going back to 1985 and give the political elites another chance to mess it up.

All we want is for our government to do that Government 101 thing...PROTECT OUR BORDERS. Duh.

Not a single political elite currently running is going to get away with glossing over this matter because it’s something that affects so many of us on a daily basis. This, plus the answer to it all is so damn simple....fix those borders and stop telling me it can’t be done. BankofAmerica manages to find these people, give them credit cards, collect the money. We know that technology can do amazing things. Perhaps the government should consult Bill Gates?

Anyway...Rod....your turn.

It is tweedledum versus tweedledee as far as the immigration issue is concerned. The country will go down the tubes regardless of which one of them is in the Presidency.

Last week I worked the Georgetown GOP office, heh...great job for me...the face of the Republican party. I’m good at it too ;)

Anyway some guy comes into the office and asks me which pubbie am I going to vote for. I smiled and held up my fingers....finger 1-if Mitt gets the nomination, I’ll vote for Mitt; finger2-if Rudy gets the nomination, I’ll vote for Rudy; finger3-if Hunter gets the nomination, I’ll vote for Hunter; finger 4-if Fred gets the nomination, I’ll vote for Fred;finger 5-if Trancredo (is he still running?) gets the nomination, I’ll vote for Tancredo;finger 6- yes if Ron Paul gets the nomination, I’ll vote for Ron Paul but I’ll be so mad at the Republican party I’ll spit; finger 7-if McCain gets the nomination, I’ll vote for McCain.

They come in the office just to talk politics and hey, I’m game.

So you see no difference between Hilary’s stand on immigration and Huck’s. Here’s a hint: during the last clinton admin, they were giving citizenship w/their voters card w/o background checks to stuff the ballot box. There is a huge difference.

I missed the Sunday shows this morning ( cable out) thanks for the great Sunday morning thread.

I know that Rudy Giuliani is not well liked here but I was wondering how he did on MTP with timmy.Any objective analysis from those that watched the program ? Hoping to see the rerun this afternoon.

But the very people I’m talking about (re illegal immigration) are the ordinary people I run into who are not that into politics and wouldn’t know Free Republic from Diet Coke.

Maybe it’s a Texas thing and it’s certainly anecdotal, but it’s what I see around here.

The media has done a good job of keeping the issue off the radar, but if it ever gets on, I think it will matter.
