Homeowners still waiting for tax relief from Perry TEXAS

AUSTIN — The average homeowner in the Houston Independent School District has saved about $310 in school property taxes since state leaders approved a new school-funding system 18 months ago — a far cry from the $2,000 that Gov. Rick Perry promised in radio and TV spots.

Most homeowners will see only a modest decrease in school taxes due by Jan. 31.

"He came into my living room and said I'd be getting $2,000," said Houston bail bondsman Michael Kubosh.

"I just wish I had a string on my vote and I could recall my vote for governor. I wish I could pull my vote back. Now, I figured he wasn't going to bring it in cash, but I'm still waiting for that $2,000 check," Kubosh said.

Homeowners with more expensive homes will save most.

An $800,000 home in the Cypress-Fairbanks school district, for example, would have produced a tax savings of about $5,083 over the last two years.

Republicans run Texas but they haven't delivered on property tax relief.

Welcome to Perryville, land of the Trans Texas Corridor (that the President sez doesn’t exist) and turning brand new highways just completed with taxpayer money... into brand new toll roads.

Isn't that because homeowners with more expensive homes will have the highest tax bills from which a reduction may be carved?

Make Texas a disclosure state and watch for reduce bills. Why should a apartment project be taxed for 1 million when it just sold for 4 million. Unlike your house which values are fairly close. I would like to see a study how much a apartment dweller contributes compared to an homeowner regarding the tax base.

Be advised the Houston Chronicle is on the same page as the Boston Globe or NYT, for examples.

Rick Perry seems to scare the [bleep] out of liebrals; hence, Gov. Perry must be seen as a second Geo. W. Bush to the socialist elites??

He may scare the [bleep] out of liberals, but this is one conservative Texan who has no use for him and his toll road at any expense policies.

They didn’t do too good a job when they ran the U.S. Congress when it came to spending my money either.

Governor "Good Hair" was a democrat. He's still a democrat, but now also a RINO.

He's made from the same part of the donkey that Chet "I'm a conservative, really" Edwards. aka:Nancy Pelosi Butt-Boy.
