Turning the other cheek refers to being slapped or maybe punched, neither of which is usually lethal. Plus, they didn't have guns in the day that statement was originally made. Anyway, your statement is like unto one who claims to be a Christian in order to denigrate a religion as if it were one's own. I do that with Catholicism from time to time, since I was baptised and raised a Catholic for the first 15 years of my life. And when the Islams come to carve your head off, make sure you cooperate, OK?

Actually, the type of strike referenced here would be a backhanded slap. Remember the Lord's exact words: "If someone strikes you on the right cheek...". Most people, being right-handed, would strike a blow using their right hand. If this were a punch, the blow would land on the left side of your head. To strike the right side of your face with their right hand, the blow would be a backhand. In other words, the kind of slap one delivers while insulting another person. The Lord is thus instructing us on how to deal with insults, not life-threatening attacks. For that sort of thing, He advises us to sell other highly useful possessions, as a cloak would have been in that day, to purchase lethal weapons. (Sticking someone with a sword ain't like playing pattycakes with 'em! They're no less lethal than a firearm.)
