Fr. Frank Pavone said, "Those of us who were with Terri will never forget her life and her death. For the sake of all the vulnerable, it is critically important that those who never knew Terri likewise remember the lessons that God taught us through her."

Amen!

In current affairs, do you see a resemblance in these two characters? I think Michael will look very similar in a few more years.

Wills to Live are safer.

That being said, you may have an ironclad living will that does protect you.

There are concerns about respirators and ventilators with living wills because patients may only need one temporarily. Make sure language re: breathing equipment is exactly what you mean. Please don't spell it out here. Your documents are private. Just thought I'd opine briefly on breathing equipment.

This case caused a record number of living wills to increase in the United States, which I think is good.

I have seen cases where your living will is ignored by the hospitals and the courts. It may unsettle you if you make me or others here post some of them.

Stalin was on the history channel last week. He was into building monuments and other structures with slave labor. His biggest feat was connecting the Volga River to the Red Sea (slave labor). His apartment building for the elite class was actually a short term arrangement for the tenants. Everyone was expendable under Stalin.

Here's a thread I found author: Thomas Sowell. Killing Terri Schiavo:

Steve Ertelt of LifeNews regarding Terri and her Legacy...

Please note, all, we do not post or link any references to the publication in question in our Terri Daily threads, at the same time regularly link to the fine work of Life News.

.................................

In today's political culture, exploitation has unfortunately become more common.

We see it with politicians who are using the tragedy of millions of Americans with various diseases to try to force the state and federal government to pay for embryonic stem cell research. We see it with lawyers who advertise on late-night television and call them ambulance chasers.

Unfortunately, we're seeing it again with the tragedy of the euthanasia death of Terri Schiavo.

Like many other reputable news agencies with a pro-life perspective, such as World Net Daily, CNS News, or NewsMax, LifeNews.com has published hundreds of articles about Terri and her parents' efforts to save her life. They came both before her former husband Michael was allowed to take her life and afterwards.

We've featured exclusive stories as well as articles covering popular topics that both mainstream and pro-life media outlets have followed. Through it all, Terri's family has worked very closely with LifeNews.com and very much appreciates our efforts to help them.

The North Country Gazette is a New York-based web site run by June Maxam. Since her death, NCG has published numerous lengthy articles investigating key players in the debate -- including Michael Schiavo, Judge George Greer and other Florida officials who paved the way to Terri's death.

Those articles have been helpful. Unfortunately, NCG has been repeatedly attacking LifeNews.com and other news sites that report on the aftermath of the debate about Terri.

Maxam's antics began when, in 2006, LifeNews.com posted a well-written editorial she penned concerning Michael's political action committee and his efforts to defeat pro-life politicians who supported Terri and her parents.

Irate that LifeNews.com would afford her column a wider distribution, Maxam emailed a scathing letter asking that the column be removed. We complied immediately.

In an email exchange afterwards, Maxam made it very clear she was not supportive of Terri Schiavo or her parents' efforts to protect her life. Though she had written strong investigative pieces concerning the major players, she appeared to be more interested in the investigative journalism than the cause of protecting disabled people like Terri.

Maxam also publicly indicated she is not pro-life and, in a post on her web site attacking LifeNews.com, wrote, "We are not affiliated with any pro-life [or] right to life group" and added "His causes are not necessarily ours" referring to LifeNews.com's support for Terri and her family.

In emails to LifeNews.com and public posts on her web site, Maxam also made it clear she has contempt for other pro-life news sources that cover the Terri Schiavo saga. It appears Maxam wants a stranglehold on reporting on Terri and the debate that still exists about euthanasia that received national prominence because of her plight.

When told that news sources like WorldNetDaily, CNS News, NewsMax and others have been extensively reporting on Terri, she accused them of taking away her readership and claimed they sometimes plagiarized her web site.

Maxam said it's "incredulous" to see other news outlets cover Terri Schiavo.

Maxam has also decried the fact that web sites covering Terri Schiavo have advertisements or accept donations from readers to help cover the cost of reporting the news.

Yet, Maxam's web site contains dozens of advertisements that appear to pay her based on the amount of traffic her site generates.

Maxam wrote previously that when other web sites publish news stories about Terri Schiavo "it obviously directs readers and potential patrons of our advertisers away from The North Country Gazette and adversely affects our statistics for daily readership and ultimately affects potential income."

She also touts the sale of a book of her articles concerning Terri Schiavo and the top of the NCG web site and includes a link soliciting ads.

Maxam previously indicated that, unlike LifeNews.com and other pro-life news sites that cover Terri, NCG would soon charge for access to its web site and news stories. In fact, NCG planned to charge $2.95 for readers to read stories on the web site and as much as $39.95 annually for access to a member area to read selected stories.

Maxam wrote that, while news stories related to other topics would remain free, "access to investigative features such as the Schiavo case ... will be accessible by membership only."

However, it now appears Maxam has shelved the idea as no mention of the membership charges appear on her blog.

LifeNews.com and other media outlets that cover Terri from the pro-life perspective make web site articles available at no cost and I expect that will continue to be the case.

NCG also attacked LifeNews.com when we published an editorial written by Pamela Hennessy, a former media representative for the Schindler family, about how euthanasia advocates are slickly marketing their message.

Hennessy held the copyright to the article and gave LifeNews.com permission to reprint it. However, because the editorial supposedly appeared on NCG's web site earlier in the day, Maxam assumed LifeNews.com must have "stolen" it from her web site, despite the copyright not belonging to NCG.

"We are definitely going to clash Mr. Ertelt, publicly," Maxam threatened in an email to LifeNews.com after she saw we had published Hennessy's op-ed.

After she sent the threatening email, a member of the Schindler family contacted Maxam to urge her to quit attacking LifeNews.com based on false allegations.

Maxam continues to send harassing emails to LifeNews.com each time we report on Michael Schiavo's TerriPAC and recently wrote another attack piece criticizing LifeNews.com for covering fines he's received from the FEC.

In the past, Maxam has tracked the identifying information from visits from LifeNews.com to her web site to read her attack articles. Maxam prides herself on being a muckraker, but she can see for herself that no one from LifeNews.com has viewed her news stories in months, despite her claims that her articles have been stolen.

Maxam fails to realize that other news sources can interview the same people or find the same documentation (in this case publicly available FEC data) that she can. Again, Maxam feels entitled to be the only one reporting on Terri or Michael and attacks others who bring the truth to light.

Maxam appears to have a history of clashing with others about news journalism.

Maxam feuded with former partner Ginger Berlin when the two ran the Empire Journal, the NCG's predecessor. They fought about a familiar topic -- the ownership of news stories and money -- and are apparently still embroiled in a legal battle over it.

LifeNews.com's interest is making sure people get the latest pro-life news and are informed about these life and death issues. Our purpose is not to make money from reporting on pro-life topics -- and our budget remains very small.

Reading our news or subscribing to our email list has been free since 1993 when LifeNews.com first started as the Pro-Life Infonet and that will always remain the case.

We are in this for the cause. People like Terri Schiavo deserve to live. When their right to life is abrogated by abortion, euthanasia or embryonic stem cell research, whether some people like it or not, LifeNews.com will tell the story that the mainstream media often refuses to report or covers up with biased or inaccurate stories.

North Country Gazette, June Maxam Attacks LifeNews.com on Terri Schiavo

The stirring story of Donny Herbert...

............................

You don't run across stories like Donny Herbert's -- at once miraculously satisfying and achingly tragic -- nearly as often, if ever. Such complexity, when combined with stunning scarcity, produces Really Big News. And now the story of a man lost to the world for nearly a decade before returning, if briefly, has inspired a book -- "The Day Donny Herbert Woke Up," by Rich Blake.

~Snip~

By Monday, May 2 -- two days after Herbert told a nurse's aide that he wanted to talk to his wife -- media from around the world was starting to converge on Father Baker Manor. Aside from the exceptional circumstances involved, interest was further fueled by the death of Terri Schiavo just a month earlier. I spent that afternoon outside the nursing home in a rural area of Orchard Park, trying to make sense of a story that didn't.

Herbert's immediate family understandably had much more important concerns than dealing with the media. His uncle, an attorney and former cop named Simon Manka, was a gruff but fair family spokesman, giving out enough details to confirm the reports of Herbert's awakening while keeping reporters and cameras at a safe distance from the firefighter's wife and sons. There would be none of the exploitation, political or otherwise, that surrounded Terri Schiavo's case if Manka could help it. As it would turn out, when it came to the story of how Herbert emerged from more than nine years of silence, there wasn't all that much to tell...........

Living wills, advanced directives, and pitfalls are tied to Terri's Legacy...

Having this future healthcare conversation is the first step. Once families are clear on the care and decisions a family member has made, the next step is to get those wishes in writing. "When families are aware of a loved ones wishes, it helps, but it is not enough to keep difficult healthcare decisions out of the legal system and out of the media spotlight, as we saw with Terri Schiavo," warns Kenemore. My Life, My Care, My Way allows an individual to get their wishes in writing.............

Fred and Terri tar baby dailies...

For any who have not seen this before, we watched the original slip and said, "Uh Ohhh!" The media would not let go of it, Terri being an albatross on their necks more than most would appreciate. Sure enough the MSM glued it to Fred Thompson's candidacy and keeps up the reminders on almost a daily basis ever since. Here is the latest in Time as reported in, uh, well, India, actually preoccupied with the Obama Nation pun of punjab jab...

...................................

10. Republican Fred Thompson (former senator and TV show actor) saying he couldn't remember the details of the legal battle over whether to keep Terry Schiavo alive. Schiavo, who lived in a persistent vegetative state for 15 years after suffering brain damage in Feb 1990, died in March 2005 when her feeding tube was removed after a prolonged legal battle. Some have since maintained that her death constituted "judicial murder".

"Several months later," Eduardo continues, "I received a phone call from the man I met with the pregnant lady in front of the abortion center. Once again....it is Rudy Tuesday!

The race for the Republican nomination for president is up in the air and plausible scenarios exist whereby several candidates have a realistic shot at receiving the GOP nod. While the former New York City mayor is one of those candidates, I'm willing to go out on a limb and make a bold prediction: Rudy Giuliani will not be the Republican nominee.

I know when I was young I would have loved to be in a land surrounded by 55 Chevys and cars people call antique these days. And be right next to my dad, Fidel. After all, it is all about father’s rights, no? And Fidel is the pops all right. Besides happiness is overrated when one can learn to love poverty and misery. But maybe his other father, Janet Reno will come visit in case he gets too happy.

We can look at Killary's past with gritted teeth if not trepidation as she prepares to do the things she does best and losing isn't one of them. The closer she gets to collapse, the more she will thrash like a beached shark. In this thread by wagglebee, a kindred spirit shows the violence within, a hallmark of the Killary killers...

Police were parked across the street from where Dan Holman of Missionaries to the Pre-Born was standing on a public sidewalk on December 7, when a man in a pickup truck got out of his vehicle and approached Holman with a club, shouting at him to get off his property. Holman was attacked and struck with the club.

“The man continued to try and assault me in the presence of three Fort Madison police officers,” Holman told Operation Rescue. “Rather than arresting the attacker the police threatened to arrest me! The police acknowledged that I was on a public right of way but said our presence posed a traffic hazard.”

The Schindlers and everyone else in the pro-life community understand that Terri's death was about much more than Terri and that is why they have decided to start a day of remembrance for her. It's not about "investigative journalism" or "getting even" or making money, it's about sparing others the tragedy they endured.

As the celebration of our Lord's birth approaches, I am reminded of how He so eloquently carried on the Jewish tradition of "telling stories" and I think that is what those who reported have done. They told us Terri's story, she became real to us all, she became more than a statistic, more than an anonymous victim of the culture of death, she became the face of hope and passion.
