Karmic Blowback
Virginian Pilot ^ | 12/7/2007 | Ron Stone

Posted on 12/10/2007 7:06:04 PM PST by moneyrunner

The following letter was printed in the Virginian Pilot by a reader sympathetic to their editorial position.

Listening to and reading the hateful vitriol against undocumented immigrants, a person unfamiliar with U.S. history might conclude that we find ourselves innocent of any wrongdoing in this regard.

No mention is made about how we took this land by force from the indigenous population, took half of Mexico in a war we precipitated, used slaves to build our economy and sucked the life's blood (resources, labor, environment and right to self-determination) out of Latin America and elsewhere via free trade, economic restructuring scams and military interventions.

Seems illegal immigrants may be karmic blowback that our history of selfishness and greed has spawned.

From the Virginian:

Mr. Ron Stone of Virginia Beach has been an attentive Virginian Pilot reader and the editors have rewarded him by printing his views. I don't know if they are totally congruent with the Pilot's editorial opinion but I suspect that there are many points on which they agree.

Methinks this guy needs to do further study in American history. Sadly, he is woefully undereducated.

Sadly, he is woefully undereducated.

That is basically all the history they teach in the public schools.

Well ya putz, Mexico would gladly have done the same to us. As usual, I don't quite see where the writer is pointing out that Mexico is such a wonderful nation that its citizens have fled by the millions to live in the land of their conquerors. What an ass.

Hope your computer doesn’t overheat, working so hard.

It’s amazing the average ordinary citizen has computer technology, and the ELITE MEDIA just can’t seem to get their hands on it.

Every acre we “took” from the Indians, we transfered by the accepted process they used amongst tribes before Europeans got here, conquest.

This implies that illegal immigration is a bad thing. Its easy to see that this guy has not thought this through at all.

Wow, I’d be interested in finding out what he’s smokin’ or drinkin’. It seems to do a great job of rendering one mindless, whatever it is.

His historical analysis is wrong, on sooooo many levels, I don’t even know where to start! It is habitual liberal oversimplification at its finest. I’d have to write an entire history book.

Exactly. Its funny really. The left only seems to blame the people who rose above barbarism for past barbarism. At the same time they excuse the barbarians who wish to destroy the civilization that keeps it at bay.

If and when abortion is finally abolished, I suppose the left will be revising history to take credit for it, and condemning everybody else for it.

Hey Ron - don’t let the door hit you on the ass on the way out! I hear they need a few good writers down in Venezuela.

Until the letter-to-the-editor writer is not afraid to give his house or other property earned here in America to a “victim” of America well.. he just seems to be a scared lout. He’s a chicken gawk.

The Brits used a policy of compensating the Indians. After the Revolution this was abandoned for a while, but then resumed under Thomas Jefferson. Even Jackson maintained it, but he did a bit of pushing first.

For the most part Indians were fairly compensated for virtually all of the land they relinquished.

The most notable exception is when the State of New York stole the land owned by the American Revolutionary War ally, the Oneida nation.

First New York declared the Oneida to be white people. Then it stole their land and gave it to illegal aliens.

More recently the Supreme Court has ruled that New York violated federal law regarding dealings with the Indians and directed that they come up with acreage to give the Oneida.

Elliot Spitzer, current governor of New York, has done nothing to comply with the court's order.

Makes Spitzer scum, even if nothing else does.

"Seems illegal immigrants may be karmic blowback that our history of selfishness and greed has spawned."

"Our history"? This guy is crazy. Is he referring to the Spaniards taking over Mexico, or the British, or the French, or whatever groups colonized the Americas? Obviously it's only the USA that's the "problem". It seems a good argument could be made that "we" took back land that the Spanish stole from the Aztecs.

This type of trope is so illustrative of the fuzzy emotional “logic” of those of the Liberal persuasion on such things.

They have no awareness of the real history or context of what they speak, only a Liberal hyper emotional sense of “fairness” that transcends any genuine logic.

The native American Indians warred constantly, made slaves of their enemies and forcibly abducted women and children from their families.

The Spanish Mexicans raped, plundered, pillaged and killed the native Indians by the tens of thousands. Those that were left were forcibly converted to Christianity and the priests sometimes cut of one foot of the indians who made a habit of running away. In the ensuing years Mexico has been an economic basket case and has corruption that runs so deeply through their society that the word corruption barely encompasses it. Mexico indeed has a proud heritage.

In this instance repeating the favorite Liberal accusation “you brought it on yourself” reveals both ignorance and stupidity - Ignorance of the true history and stupidly trying to assuage the guilt they feel by pointing fingers at others.
