The Third China-U.S. Strategic Economic Dialogue, which convenes tomorrow, will address product quality and food safety. This focus reflects public concern over these issues in both countries. It also shows that the two governments are committed to protecting people's livelihood and consumers' rights, and that China and the United States are working together to meet new challenges posed by economic globalization.
With a population of 1.3 billion, China is both a big manufacturing center and a large consumer market. "Putting people first" is the principle followed by the Chinese government as it works to meet its people's growing material needs.

China will only make empty promises. Quality? The communists have no brain to provide quality. The Chinese government is so corrupted that they will be happy to provide quality stamps for a certain amount of bribe.
Sorry, but this entire article sounded just to much like union propaganda. China must be worried. Good!
Anyone else remember the little jingle in the ads for the Ladies International Garment Union. (I bet they don’t even exist anymore.)
ping
I shopped yesterday...at Sam’s Club for fish. I looked at every package until I found some that was a US product. You’d be surprised how few choices that gives you, because most of it comes from China. Since when have we had to have our fish come from China?
i have been finding product that would not tell you the country of origin
we are down to trusting 2c stickers
not much fate in those either
Al Gore does; his parents used to sing it to him when he was a baby. Back before the jingle was actually written . . .
We often shop at COSTCO, and noticed similar labeling, however I believe the “Wild Caught” label found on the packaging is important to consider. We find that at “TJ’s” as well. It is the “Farmed Fish” that is most subjected to production abuse, chemicals, pharmaceuticals that is scary to us. One cannot blame anyone for anxiety over any seafood other than USA, but if you love your seafood as much as we, then “Wild Caught” I think should be considered.
Oh please. I just want to puke after reading drivel like that. It says and means nothing.
In the decade after WWII, Japan had a reputation for making schlock - "Made in Japan" was a byword for shoddiness. Japan adopted the perspective promoted by W. Edwards Deming to the effect that poor quality is in fact expensive. In doing so they were able to completely turn around the image of Japanese manufacturing; Japanese are now noted for the quality of their products. That cannot be a secret from the Chinese . . . at least not for long. I guess it was initially an accomplishment to get production going in a big way, and the quality takeoff can only come afterwards.
