AUSTIN, Texas — Two boys, ages 11 and 14, have been charged with breaking into the home of a 60-year-old woman and trying to sexually assault her, police said Tuesday.

The boys wore bandanas and gloves when they broke through a window in July, and one of them tried to sexually assault her but stopped when a heart device was triggered, Detective Scott Stanfield said.

The boys were charged with burglary with intent to commit sexual assault. The boys had a kit that included items to restrain the victim, Stanfield said.

A 15-year-old girl and a 16-year-old boy were standing outside the victim's house serving as lookouts, Stanfield said, but they have not been charged because they did not break into the house.

Police said they do not know a motive for the attack. No one was arrested until someone who had seen a suspect near the woman's house contacted police, Stanfield told the Austin American-Statesman.

The boys have been released from a juvenile detention center on the condition that they wear electronic monitoring devices, Stanfield said.

I hope they don’t engage in any further criminal acts while they are out of jail awaiting further court proceedings.

I’ve never understood why juvenile felons must remain anonymous.

If they were look outs they were part of the group. They should be charged too.

Yes they should be...What a sick bunch. I would lock all of them up for quite awhile too. Shaking my head again. What in the world would make these kids do this?

I was reading the other articles. No emotion. They will be terrorizing again, IMO, if they are let back into society.

As far as I am concerned, the two lookouts are guilty of the crimes the two perps were. This was a thought out planed team effort.

If someone was busted for selling drugs, do you think their lookouts would be arrested too?

by law they could...jus ta question of would they.

if your buddy gets caught shoplifting, if you know hes doing it, you are guilty as well.

Sounds good to me & I think we could think of a few more things to do to them. I wonder what kind of parents they have...I would flip if any of my sons had done such a thing. I know they would be sitting in juvie as I wouldn't take them home. I would be so disgusted with them I doubt that I could even look at them & it would be way safer for them away from me.

If they could be tied to the sale as co-conspirators, yes I do. A lookout is facilitating a crime. They are as guilty as the people who trade the goods for cash. I’m not an attorney or a law enforcement officer. I am giving my own personal opinion of what should be reasonable. That doesn’t mean that is is, in accordance with laws on the books.

I think that too many children today have no feeling of remorse & thats very bad for the rest of us...You are correct IMO that they will be terrorizing people again or maybe killing them.

Sounds like gang initiation to send the younger ones in...especially since they intended to rape the 60 yr. old woman.

we need more people like that.
