Fred is almost over qualified. Too bad folks don’t know this. Prayers for Fred I want him to stick in there and win!!!
Funny thing is a caller called in Michael Medved, and mentioned therr Huckabee surge, and attributed it to the media propping him up. Medvbed laughed off that notion, and called it a conspiracy theory, which he basically put it in the tinfoil hat pile of aliens from outer space callers, and 9/11 truthers.
One of these days I will call in to find out what exactly he thinks about Free Republic, as I am sure he is aware of us. For that matter, I wonder what the other "conservative AM radio talk show hosts think of Free Republic. I'm guessing there'd be a few that would label us as right wing extremists...
“Yeah, the drive by’s are really propping up this Huckabee. Boy, they are so transparent.”
At the very least it’s discouraging for Fredheads and if Fred doesn’t end up as the candidate the strategy has the pubbies spending all their cash in Iowa and SC.
I am waiting for the egg timer to go “ding” on the Huckabee candidacy, but he just keeps going. I’ve had about as much “compassionate conservatism” (government spending my money) as I can stand or afford.
Talking to yourself is the first sign of insanity...
I detest that “compassionate conservative” label. To be a conservative is to be compassionate in many ways. We give the most to charity, we help people get on their feet but teach them how to stay there not continue giving them handouts, etc. We need to get a strong, no-nonsense conservative that will tell the Hillary’s, Pelosi’s and Reid’s just where they can go.
Mark Levin is a freeper.
The FRED Tide is Rolling here in Alabama!!
Prediction:
Fred does better than expected in IA, and comes in #1 or #2 in SC.
Then he sweeps Super Tuesday.
Boy, Counterpunch, you’re just rolling out all the BS anti-Fred cliches aren’t you?
You know you already didn’t plan to vote for him.
Actually, Fred is who I have been supporting. I am pointing out what is so obviously wrong with his campaign out of frustration that he’s performing so poorly. I wish he would do better. If he had been doing the sort of things I keep pointing out he would be the front runner in a one man race right now. But he’s not. He hasn’t used the debates to let voters get to know him as a politician and statesman. He hasn’t taken the opportunity to let people know he has international terrorism and nuclear proliferation expertise from chairing the State Department’s International Security Advisory Board. he hasn’t done crap except say “I’m more conservative than these other guys.” Frankly, I think it is well beneath his stature. We want to hear from Fred Thompson, the policy expert, not Fred Thompson the downhome simple folk.
He HAS said all those things between the debates and his TV appearences. I don’t know why you haven’t seen it.
I am not saying it isn't accurate, but polls at this time are so fluid that we should probably use the current ones.
Maybe he’s mentioned it in passing once, meanwhile Giuliani reminds everyone about 9/11 every other sentence. Fred has got to do better, be more proactive, and take bolder positions. How can you honestly say you thought his answers on taxes or Compean and Ramos were anywhere near satisfactory?
They were fine.
You have to realize that he’s running for President of the United States, not President of Free Republic.
There is a reason that he has held elective office and you and I have not.
ROLL TIDE!!!!
Pushing for FRed up north here in the frozen wastelands as well!!
They weren’t fine, most certainly not for a primary campaign.
He did not speak to what motives the conservative base that will be choosing the GOP nominee.
This is the most current poll I could find from Alabama. There were polls from other states from the beginning of November and earlier that I didn’t post for just the reasons you state. My point is that Thompson is likely first or competing with Huckabee for first in big Southern Super Tuesday states, just as Romney is first or competing for first in a few of the earlier states. It’s the latter that are getting most of the attention, but the Southern Super Tuesday states have as many if not more delegates.
The race is wide open.
Yes it is!
Ain't life fun. HA HA. I really do think Fred will probably take Alabama and Georgia, or maybe it is just wishful thinking that Huck will melt down before Super Tuesday.
I just wanted to point out the time lag.
