Where is that from?
"'Who will redeem the earth, who will go forth and make the sacrifice for the earth and all things it contains?' The eldest son said: 'Here am I;' but he did not say 'send me.' But the second one, which was 'Lucifer, son of the morning,' said, 'Lord, here am I, send me, I will redeem every son and daughter of Adam and Eve that lives on the earth,..."
If you do not recognize the eldest son as Jesus, it is stated more clearly by Milton R. Hunter, member of the Mormon First Council of the Seventy. Written and published under the direction of the General Priesthood Committee of the L.D.S. Council of the Twelve, Milton explains: "The appointment of Jesus to be the savior of the world was contested by one of the other sons of God. He was called Lucifer, son of the morning. Haughty, ambitious, and covetous of power and glory, this spirit-brother of Jesus desperately tried to become the Savior of mankind."
Not only is the Mormon Jesus the spirit-brother of Lucifer, but of all mankind as well. Mormon doctrine teaches that every man, woman, and child on earth was born in the spirit world before coming to this world to take on "tabernacles" of flesh.
Mormon Apostle Bruce McConkie, quoting Joseph F. Smith (of the first LDS Presidency) explains: "All men and women are in the similitude of the universal Father and Mother, and are literally the sons and daughters of Deity."
McConkie continues with his own wording: "...as spirits they were the 'off-spring of celestial parentage.' These spirit beings, the offspring of exalted parents, were men and women, appearing in all respects as mortal persons do, excepting only that their spirit bodies were made of a more pure and refined substance than the elements from which mortal bodies are made."
McConkie then explains the Mormon Jesus: "Christ, the Firstborn, was the mightiest of all the spirit children of the Father."
In his explanation of the devil, McConkie says: "The devil is a spirit son of God who was born in the morning of pre-existence....When the plan of salvation was presented--and when the need for a redeemer was explained, Satan offered to come into the world as the Son of God and be the redeemer. 'Behold, here am I, send me,' he said. 'I will be thy son.' 'I will redeem all mankind, that one soul shall not be lost, and surely I will do it; wherefore give me thine honor,..."
