The U.S. and most of the world have experienced financial boom times and are now facing gloom times with fear that it will end in doom times.
A PhD with the typical liberal "gloom and doom" message, with the hope that if they repeat the message often enough and loud enough, that the people will listen and make it happen.
Any PhD or any other economist whose predictions don't match reality or turn out to be wrong so often, should have their degrees or qualifications repealed.

actually the US economy is like the coyote walking on air before looking down...
The ‘financial vehicles’ of the banks that ‘spread the doe’ (liquidity) to fuel the economy are rotten to a breathtaking degree. It is - btw - a good idea to invest into solid big companies that can finance their future demands on their own - the banks will most probably not be able to do so in the near future. Also stocks from companies that are mostly self sustained are real values and don’t suffer much from devaluation of money.
every other prospect is whisteling in the dark.
greetings from a Ph.D. (in chemistry though)

An old idea that may need to be dusted off, IMHO.
