A cruciform football jersey is offensive to their sensibilities but a culture of violence, deceit and intolerance is not.

An even bigger question is why...
Why after 700 yrs. (or their about) the Catholic Church has opened up the trial of the Templar Knights. We then find out IMHO it looks like a misunderstanding.
They were training the Troops to prepare for the religious humiliation they would endure if captured (if my read-back is correct) by their foes of a ahgmm ahgmm, pardon me while I clear my throat, "another religion".
Why now....

Yep - you got it right.
I for one am about ready to endorse a new Crusade to free not just the Holy Lands, but the world of the scourge of mankind - the religion of Satan known as Islam.

A cruciform football jersey is offensive to their sensibilities
but a culture of violence, deceit and intolerance is not.
And this is in what is arguably in the first rank of civilized,
advanced and open of the Islamic/Muslim countries!
