I thought he had mercifully disappeared from sports broadcasting until I watched a Thursday game on the NFL Network several weeks ago. Yeccccccccch!

To use those examples, sounds like you’ve had both.

Gee, I certainly hope that his illness doesn’t worsen and that he would die or anything like that.

An early Christmas present for football fans.

“Gee, I certainly hope that his illness doesn’t worsen and that he would die or anything like that.”

I know that’s a little sarcasm, and it’s all in fun, but you might want to re-think that. I’m not offended, you can do as you wish, but my mother taught me not to wish that kind of thing on anyone. Even in jest.

Gumbel is all the leftist things he’s been called here and more, but he used to be a better than average sportscaster before his Today Show exploits. Gumbel, to his credit, hasn’t injected any politics or whinny assed PC comments like Kornheiser, Tirico, Tom Jackson or any of the other terrible sports talking heads. I really hate those “guests” they commiserate with during the game broadcasts. Gumbel looks bad and seems to be mentally off this entire season.

I hope the NFL Network takes the opportunity to replace them both. Crissy Collinsworthess makes me use the mute button.

I can’t get to the TV clicker fast enough to remove Bryant Gumball.

“The more games I miss, the more I realize I didn’t really miss them. Take the drug from the addict, watch him get clean and not need you anymore, and then wonder what you’ll do with your drugs. Good plan NFL and Big Ten.”

Absolutely correct.

Major sports are really pushing the fans toward the edge. In addition to pure cost and convenience issues, there are so many other alternatives for entertainment today.

ALL major sports need to be very careful with their strategic planning. I think we are very close to a tipping point.

Oh, and Bryant Gumbel is a narcissitic elite, an arrogant racist who adds NOTHING to any event with which he is associated.

Because we may actually get through a football game without the commentators spouting liberal talking points??
That would amaze me.

“Thank you.”

I forgot to mention, I hate smarta**es too.

Notice I framed it as advice from a very wise person, (my mother), nothing more. Do as you wish, and reap what you sow.

I was not surprised last year when he did a Niners game and kept called Frank Gore "Al" a couple times.

I was surprised though that he didn't do any global warming plugs when he made the mistake.

I’ve said this before - Gumbel never sounds like he’s announcing anything live. It’s the weirdest thing, but that’s my take.

Typically the day before the game the booth guys have meetings with the coaches and some players from both teams, that’s where most of the chit-chat points during a broadcast come from. On the other side I have been sick enough to know I would be a wreck the next day, I was sick enough that even if the cold ended I’d be seriously fatigued, and I’ve ignored that warning from my body and learned that was a very bad idea.
