The NFL is cyclical and the Niners certainly had their great years - a decade even. New England fans should be sure to really savor the Pats success. The Niners will be back, although there were playoff expectations for them this year. People here in the DC area still pine away for the Gibbs Glory Years. Gibbs is back but the glory is in short supply! (I’m a transplant so I’m immune.)
Jim Nantz....
Dick Enberg? Pure vanilla!
I miss Myron Cope!!!!
Do you “reckon” he could be sick on the 22nd when they have the Cowboys and Carolina??
Professional sports is like professional sex: there’s no love involved and it’s all about the money!
Then how can you explain the Cincinnati Bengals? ;~))
But I conceed --- you are correct. Both are about money. But both can be still be fun anyway. Who says fun has to be free?
Actually more than a decade. From 1981 to 1995 (their fifth superbowl). However, under the present ownership I do not expect any return to playoff contention. I understand your anguish over missing the “glory years”.
We got Merrill Reese down here. The local guys are always great. You know you watch football too much when you can start recognizing the voices of the different announcers, and put a name to ‘em!
