Authorities believe that San Juan Capistrano man they arrested was attacker who pretended to be good Samaritan.....
About 36 hours after he was taken into custody, the Orange County Sheriff Department's crime lab matched a DNA sample taken from the crime scene and a sample taken from Alejandro Martinez Leyva, a 25-year-old resident of San Juan Capistrano......
The 24-year-old woman, a resident of San Diego County, also identified Leyva from a photo lineup Wednesday, Amormio said.
Outside a home in the 26400 block of Calle San Luis, where Leyva was arrested, investigators found a car matching the description given by the 24-year-old woman: a dark green or blue older sedan with a trunk spoiler and a baby seat in the back.
The rape occurred early Saturday when the woman was in a solo crash in the southbound lanes of I-5 in San Juan Capistrano, near the Junipero Serra Road exit, authorities said.
Her car was disabled on the shoulder when she called a friend for help at 2:30 a.m., just before an older sedan stopped in front of her car.
Authorities said Leyva offered to help, but when she refused, he threw the phone from her hand and forced her into the front seat of the car, where he raped her.
The woman's friend was looking for her and contacted a California Highway Patrol officer who was making an unrelated stop on the freeway. The officer and the friend spotted the woman at 3:39 a.m. inside the car, wearing only a black shirt.
Leyva was in custody with an immigration hold, Amormino said. He's expected to make his first appearance in court today.

I have seen numbers quoted here on F.R. but can't cite any sources. It seemed that illegals commit crimes way out of proportion to their numbers here.

A number I remember seeing was that illegals represent 25% of the prison population. Imprisoned for other crimes than the first one - breaking into our country.
This almost happened to my wife and daughter when they broke down on I-10 late one night. The creeps were getting ready to bust out a window when my daughter pulled her little .38 out of the glove box.

at 12,000,000 they represent less than 5% of the 280,000,000 people in this country yet they represent 25-30% of the prison population. Outstanding.
In the last seven years they have killed more American citizens than the Iraq war has. Where is the outrage? Ms. Boxer? Ms. Pelosi? Harry Reid?
Agree. He swore to uphold the laws of the land, and has steadfastly refused to do that with the immigration laws. How many other crimes committed by illegals is Bush an accomplice?

A quick google search suggests there are about 45 murders per day in the U.S. That number could be off; didn’t want to make it a research project, but a few sources had that, so let’s take it as an assumption. If illegals are killing 12 people a day, that’s 27% of the U.S. total — even though they’re, what, 4 or 5% of the popluation? Wow. That’s far beyond what I even imagined.

In order to get such a proportion, one would have to know how many illegal immigrants there are in this country.
Problem is, if you accept the lower number that the government would have us believe, it makes the crime stats look worse.
