Romney? Anti-Reagan comments?

American Liar

Ronald Reagan was
"adamantly pro-choice."

"[Huckabee] said the Bush administration is guilty of an 'arrogant bunker mentality' that has been counterproductive here and abroad. I simply can't believe that. I can't believe he'd say that. I'm afraid he's running for the wrong party. The truth of the matter is this president's kept us safe these last six years." -- Mitt Romney

Any part of that you disagree with?

Three words to oppose this accusation about Romney an solidify Romney's point. . . Sandra Day O'Connor.

I just about died a few years ago when Nancy Reagan was basically saying Bush was too conservative and pointing to his stance on Pro Life. The Reagans as wonderful as they were were not staunch Pro lifers, nor did they do all they could to stand against Roe v Wade and to push in a new direction. Whihc s what is is, but to call someone a liar because they point this out is just mean spirited and denial. I am not saying what Reagan should have done, but I am pointing out what his actions tell me. Once again. The vote that stopped it all in the Supreme Court over and over again . . . Sandra Day O'Connor. A Reagan appointee.

I think Reagan started out as pro-choice during his Hollywood days.
My understanding is he later became pro-life. I could be wrong on this.

American Liar

In 1967, Gov. Ronald Reagan signed a liberal abortion law, declaring, “I’m fully sympathetic with attempts to liberalize the outdated abortion law now on the books in California.” Reagan later changed his mind and expressed regret.

Ronald Reagan came late to the pro-life cause. that fact does not in any way diminish his legacy. All candidates are human. They make mistakes. I think Mr. Romney is worthy of a second chance on abortion. That said, I do prefer Mr. Thompson.
