Virginia's Democratic primary voters will find six names on their ballots, including U.S. Senators Hillary Rodham Clinton of New York, Barack Obama of Illinois, and Joe Biden of Delaware. The other Democratic contenders in Virginia will include Former North Carolina Senator John Edwards, New Mexico Governor Bill Richardson, and Ohio Congressman Dennis Kucinich.

The six Republicans who will appear on the February 12th GOP ballot include Arizona Senator John McCain, Former Senator Fred Thompson of Tennessee, Former Governors Mitt Romney of Massachusetts and Mike Huckabee of Arkansas, Former New York City Mayor Rudy Giuliani, and Texas Congressman Ron Paul.

U.S. Senator Chris Dodd (D-Connecticut) will not be a ballot choice in Virginia. The same holds true for Congressman Duncan Hunter (R-California) Representative Tom Tancredo (R-Colorado), and GOP hopeful Alan Keyes.

The order in which the candidates are listed will be determined later this week.

Ron Paul makes the ballot but Duncan Hunter doesn’t? Dang.

It took 10,000 signature of registered voters to get on the ballot in Va. Hunter’s campaign, despite emailing me about every other volunteer opportunity, never once asked me to collect signatures. Now that’s not saying they didn’t have a workforce dedicated to getting signatures, but if they did put forth such an effort it was done very quietly as I heard nothing about on the local political grapevine.

Ron Paul made the ballot because he has a lot more support than Duncan Hunter

In fact as I type this, Ron Paul supporters are making history again with a massive one-day “money bomb” which will break his last one-day record held on Nov 5th

A quick check of his web site shows donations coming in at about 6000 dollars a minute

Most politicans would kill for this type of support

Noboby ever asked me to sign the petition on behalf of Hunter and I would have in a heartbeat. One guy in front of the post office did ask me to sign for McCain and I laughed out loud at him.

So Freds campaign could muster up the dedication to get him on this ballot, but Delaware was too tough? (He only got 281 out of the necessary 500 signatures).

Sounds like a good, dedicated, organized campaign to me!

I’d have voted for Hunter in the primary. That said, I’d sooner vote for Paul than Giuliani or McCain.

Spot on, and as it should be (said with out bias in favor of either candidate).

Ron Paul gives voice to a lot of people who believe that things have gone too far. As it should be, they have that voice in a candidate's words and positions that will have an effect of the canpaign no matter who wins.

I support that, not the candidate. My fear is a third party run by Paul. I see it as possible, and encouraged by the leftists who know they can't get a majority of the national vote without a split of votes between a major candidate and somebody else.

Yeah, you’re right. What was I thinking, no real Republican would ever support Paul.

2 million dollars in just over 10 hours has to be coming from the unlimited wealth of the tin foil hat crowd

Paul has already stated he will not run as a third party candidate, but that won’t stop me or his other supporters from writing his name in in the General Election

But Paul knows, like I do, that the bias against a third party is so great it’s impossible to overcome.

Hell, the largest 3rd Party is the Libertarian Party and they only have ballot access in 27 states

If the choice is McCain, McFred, the Huckster or Rudy, I'll write in Paul, too.

I hope you are correct. One can't help but notice that in politics what candidates say today aren't always what they DO when circumstances 'change'.

I haven't given serious consideration to Giuliani, McCain or even Romney because without the Media hype holding them up, all three deflate like a hot air balloon without gas to burn. They haven't a chance.

I don't know enough about Huckabee yet, but enough call him "Huckster" to warrant some suspicion. It's not over, and all it will take is some perceived or real flaw to draw enough support from a better choice and cause the election of a WRONG choice.

Save yourself the trouble; just punch the ticket for Obama or Hillary. You’d accomplish the same thing with less effort.

And the difference between a tax and spend Democrat and an inflate and spend Republican is what?

Anyone not blinded by party loyalty can see little difference between the two parties

On the one right I hold most dear, my Second Amendment right, they are all the same

Thank God I am not from Virginia. I would have to leave it blank...Where is Duncan’s name is what I would write down.

Fred could not get 500 signatures in Delaware??? That does not seem right. 500 people could not sign a form? They could not have tried hard. I have never signed one of these documents...never been asked, but is it time consuming? Even if Fred is not my first choice I would still sign it for the guy. Why not? Republicans are Republicans IMHO.
