There are the reasons. And, no, I didn’t notice any input by the PETA crowd. Guess there are still a few people left that they are respectful/afraid of.

So it’s not the slaughter itself, but the magnitude of the slaughter and the public health ramifications.

[Note: ramifications is the appropriate word to convey the intended meaning, and is in no way intended as a sheep pun.]

I like to see myself as a very black and white thinker. Your quote from the article clears it up. My previous post was born of ignorance of this part of the article.
