Hillary on Stilts
NewsBusters ^ | Mark Finkelstein

Posted on 12/16/2007 5:14:59 PM PST by governsleastgovernsbest

It's been a rough day for Hillary. First, as noted here, she was drummed from pillar to post on ABC's "This Week." NewsBuster Noel Sheppard then detailed here how Chris Matthews' crew raked her over the coals. Now, completing Hillary's troika of tribulation, the CBS Evening News has gotten into the act.

The development being reported was ostensibly positive for Hillary: the Des Moines Register today endorsed her. If CBS had stopped there, it would have been a plus for the Clinton campaign. But unfortunately for Hillary, the Evening News decided to play clips of Clinton on the stump in Iowa.

Actually, I was referring to the 1970’s British series “Rumpole of the Bailey,” which starred Leo McKern. But, hey, whatever floats your boat...

You all know that if we don’t get Hillary we get Osama and he has the same bad ideas. Hillary is easier to beat, since Offra will not be able to support her.

I think they have a two-part plan.
1. They’re hitting hard now because many hope she won’t win. I think the MSM are tired of having to lie to cover up for the Clintons and having to stick their heads up their a$$es to turn away from scandals. In short, they remember the 90’s and don’t want to carry the Clintons’ water any more.

2. IF Hillary wins the nomination, they’ll support her whole-heartedly. They will be able to point to this hammering and say, “Well, we scrutinized thoroughly, and she’s the best.” Also, all of this will be treated as ‘old news,’ and the MSM will be able to ignore it and focus only on spinning whatever is happening on her campaign trail of the general.

But I do think many, even liberals, can’t stand her and her disgusting apparatchik.

That is well thought out.. But when it comes down to it, I think the DNC knows that Hillary is not electable.. that she has too many negatives and that if she does run, she will solidify the opposition..

My personal hope is that she does so-so.. I’d like to see the dems in a long, drawn out, bloody battle before they take on the GOP.

Probably wishful thinking on my part..

That’s how I see it and I’m not changing that opinion until after New Hampshire at the earliest.

It was pretty clear (with Bill's "miracle" statement, e.g.) that the Clintons were trying to dampen expectations, but I hadn't reached your very interesting and impressive conclusions.

Like Hillary says, "now the fun part begins".

That’s what I’m thinking too. She loves to play the victim in order to get sympathy .. and NOTHING is a coincidence with the Clintons.

Remember, too, the Clinton's are lawyers, trained in the art of debate.

They know how to twist any fact, any circumstance to a "win" for their side, regardless of where they start from.

I think the DNC knows that Hillary is not electable

You sound just like the Freepers that told me that with the Jennifer Flowers story, other Bimbo eruptions, and all the known corruption in the Clinton governorship, that everyone in the DNC knew that Bill Clinton was unelectable.

I said it was bull crap then and it is bull crap now.

Hillary is far more electable than Obama or Edwards and those Freepers that want Hillary to be the Democratic nominee are going to be very surprised when she runs a much stronger campaign than Gore or Kerry.

When McCain Feingold was passed Hillary and Bill had their hand picked DNC head, Terry McAulliffe, move all the fundraising to 527s under the Clinton's control. If the DNC wants money they have to ask Bill and Hillary for it.

Remember all the early talk about Howard Dean being a great fundraiser on the internet? Then remember after he became head of the DNC how he was criticized for being unable to raise much money? The Clinton's had fixed so he could not raise money, then they blamed him for his failure to raise money.

When was the last time you heard much of anything from Howard Dean. He finally learned it was not healthy to keep blowing off. The DNC is a toothless hound dog that has no power or influence. It doesn't matter what the DNC thinks..

The DNC has never helped nominate anyone that was not an incumbent president. The DNC charter says it must remain neutral in all primary elections and it does.

The people who make up the DNC are local leaders of the Democratic party. The members of the DNC are the state and county chairman of the Democratic party. They will make up the 20 percent party votes at the Democratic National Convention. They are 40 percent of the convention votes hillary needs to win on the first ballot. Hillary has 95 percent of them in her hip pocket.

She has them because HIllary and Bill have bought at least 95 percent of those delegates. There is zero way the DNC is going to oppose Hillary in any way. They don't dare.

With McCain Feingold in effect the DNC is a worthless organization as is the RNC. They are now just social clubs with out the means to do much of anything at all.

I spent 35 years of my life in the media. I suggest you actually study the media before you say they are tired of covering for the Clintons. The media above all likes to think that they are responsible for who gets elected and what gets done. Covering up for the Clinton's so they get elected makes the media types feel powerful and in charge.

It causes the Clinton's to owe the media. When the Clinton's are in office they do all they can to preserve the power of the media.

What is the difference between the media covering up its own corruption and sexual misdeads and covering the corruption and sexual misdeeds of the of the Clintons? It just makes Bill and Hill two of their own.

The media never did anything for the Clinton's that they didn't do for themselves.

Do you really think those TV anchors never had sex with a few dozen pretty young interns over the years and never got involved with any corruption to get to the anchor or washington correspondent seat? If you don't you are very naive.
