Huckabee Taps Renewed Fervor Of Evangelicals By LAURA MECKLER and VALERIE BAUERLEIN December 17, 2007; Page A1

Evangelical voters, dispirited with their options in the Republican presidential field for much of the year, are feeling new energy and intensity as they flock to former Arkansas Gov. Mike Huckabee. And with their support, Mr. Huckabee's campaign is soaring to heights that seemed unimaginable just a month ago.

The turnaround is personified by evangelicals Valerie and Larry Domagalski, who waited more than an hour recently to greet Mr. Huckabee after a speech in Greenville, S.C. When they finally got their chance, Mr. Domagalski looked Mr. Huckabee in the eye: "We've been praying for you," he said. "We know this is entirely in God's hands, but we're continuing to pray for you."

Mr. Domagalski, who says he has never been active in politics before, now regularly emails close to 100 friends and colleagues encouraging them to vote for Mr. Huckabee.

I’m not going to post hate - I just think his religous roots mask a poor manager, an incomplete leader, and a dangerous rally point that distracts from the task of choosing the best conservative candidate for President. (posted from my Treo 750 - love FR mobile).

It isn’t a case of hate, Dane.

Huckabee is not a conservative Republican. It’s just that simple. My friends in Arkansas who warned me about Bill Clinton 15-years ago have also warned me about Mike Huckabee - both likeable fellows, both liars willing to say anything to get elected.

Real Americans don’t want to be governed by a preacher turned politician.

These evangelical voters are myopic, Dane.

I am an Evangelical Christian and I am definately not even considering voting for Huckabee. His statements about Bush having an arrogant “bunker mentality” and wanting to close Gitmo to appease the Euro-weenies were way over the top. The man is as empty a suit as I have ever seen on the campaign trail, even more than McCain. He might have been a great pastor, but as a Republican politician he simply stinks.

I kinda laugh looking at some of the posts on these threads - Some posters must be pulling their hair out everytime you post one of these stories ...

Simply put, Huckabee is a Huckster trying to sell himself as great manager, an excellent leader and a financial genius when the opposite is closer to the truth; secondly, he is a Huckleberry, a doofus, for thinking that he can pull this stunt off!

Like most secular liberals, the reporter sees Evangelical Christians as a monolithic voting block marching in lockstep.

I wouldn’t go that far. There is Edwards after all. I will say I thought he displayed some nasty character flaws, but on closer examination he just seems under qualified.

I guess some people don’t care if Huckabee stabs them in the back with one hand, as long as he has a Bible in the other hand.

Same here. I've been hard on Romney and Huck. Those who support Huck just because he claims to be a Christian are as bad as the Mormons who are blindly supporting Romney simply because he's LDS.

Gotta hope that most Christians will be able to discern the critical difference.

I think that they will do just fine once he media turns to another hot item......

‘Hate’ is the word thrown around by Clinton jackboot thugs when they want to shove their views down our throat and stifle all dissent.

I guess that’s just how they do things down in Arkansas.
