Actually there is global warming. There is also Mars Warming, Jupiter Warming and it appears Pluto Warming as well. The increase in Solar output seems to be the culprit, not SUV and such. Ironically the latest reports look to show some drop in temps, so this cycle maybe easing.

The effect of man and CO2 output is the “debate” that catches the attention though so it is lumped together. It appears that this is a natural cycle despite what Al Gore and the UN say. So I actually agree with you on that.

However saying we should reduce CO2 in ways that in the end increase efficiency without really impacting things cost wise in the long run is a good position to hold for a politician of any stripe. No where to you see Thompson say he wants to “Al Gore” us. But since it will reduce dependence on oil and foster some research into other means of power, if we can take a little advantage of the hoopla, all the better. And yes, it can actually cost less if done right. Again, not the “Al Gore/UN shut it all down NOW” way..

Anyways, the internal combustion engine has gotten boring, I have turbo charged it, super charged it and everything in between (should be a hint that I am not an enviro wacko, I am a carbon footprint, size 10 million)

I want the Tesla Roadster to come out in a more affordable form...

Actually there is global warming.

Repeating it doesn't make it true.

There is also Mars Warming, Jupiter Warming and it appears Pluto Warming as well. The increase in Solar output seems to be the culprit, not SUV and such.

Yes, the sun is clearly behind our climate.

Ironically the latest reports look to show some drop in temps, so this cycle maybe easing.

That - along with NASA's recent corrections of the USA's historical record - is why I said there's doubt about whether warming has happened. I think most temperature change has been within the margin of error of our measurement techniques.

However saying we should reduce CO2 in ways that in the end increase efficiency without really impacting things cost wise in the long run is a good position to hold for a politician of any stripe.

That doesn't make it true. And I'm interested to see what would happen if a candidate would actually challenge the premise, rather than pandering to the ecotards.

No where to you see Thompson say he wants to “Al Gore” us.

True, and good. But the same is true of Romney (though not of Huckabee, McCain, or Giuliani).

But since it will reduce dependence on oil and foster some research into other means of power, if we can take a little advantage of the hoopla, all the better.

Not the government's job, and I'd rather fight the hoopla, since the end result of the hoopla will be disastrous if it's not challenged and defeated.

And yes, it can actually cost less if done right.

If that were true, the free market would already be doing it.

Again, not the “Al Gore/UN shut it all down NOW” way..

Conceding the premise and then fighting for scraps (or "moderation") is always a losing strategy, at least long-term.

Anyways, the internal combustion engine has gotten boring, I have turbo charged it, super charged it and everything in between (should be a hint that I am not an enviro wacko, I am a carbon footprint, size 10 million)

I try to increase my "carbon footprint" whenever and however I can as well. And the Tesla Roadster looks very cool.

Anyway, you should definitely see this film. It's extraordinarily well-done, entertaining (but sober), and interesting.
