America will keep on wrecking climate talks as long as those with vested interests in oil and gas fund its political system
'After 11 days of negotiations, governments have come up with a compromise deal that could even lead to emission increases. The highly compromised political deal is largely attributable to the position of the United States, which was heavily influenced by fossil fuel and automobile industry interests. The failure to reach agreement led to the talks spilling over into an all-night session." These are extracts from a press release by Friends of the Earth. So what? Well it was published on December 11 - I mean to say, December 11 1997. The US had just put a wrecking ball through the Kyoto protocol. George Bush was innocent; he was busy executing prisoners in Texas. Its climate negotiators were led by Albert Arnold Gore.
The European Union had asked for greenhouse gas cuts of 15% by 2010. Gore's team drove them down to 5.2% by 2012. Then the Americans did something worse: they destroyed the whole agreement. Most of the other governments insisted that the cuts be made at home. But Gore demanded a series of loopholes big enough to drive a Hummer through. The rich nations, he said, should be allowed to buy their cuts from other countries. When he won, the protocol created an exuberant global market in fake emissions cuts. The western nations could buy "hot air" from the former Soviet Union. Because the cuts were made against emissions in 1990, and because industry in that bloc had subsequently collapsed, the former Soviet Union countries would pass well below the bar. Gore's scam allowed them to sell the gases they weren't producing to other nations.

HaHaHaHaHaH!!
George Monbiot - the one whose name has been suggested as the root word of “moonbat”.
Ah, the Guardian. Think Stalinism at its worst. Think liberal arts - and embellish with a complete lack of understanding of mathematics, physics, economics, and engieering. Top with the typical lib feeling of superiority and you have the relentless non-accomplishment, bad logic, and completely useless meanderings of the Guardian.
Because the cuts were made against emissions in 1990, and because industry in that bloc had subsequently collapsed, the former Soviet Union countries would pass well below the bar. Gore's scam allowed them to sell the gases they weren't producing to other nations. He also insisted that rich nations could buy nominal cuts from poor ones. Entrepreneurs in India and China have made billions by building factories whose primary purpose is to produce greenhouse gases, so that carbon traders in the rich world will pay to clean them up. The result of this sabotage is that the market for low-carbon technologies has remained moribund.
Have the climate talks without the United States present. Agree to anything you want. Feel free to wreck your own economies. Just don't ask us to join your suicide pact.
BTW, Al Gore is an EX-senator and EX-vice president. He lost the 2000 presidential election and has zero authority to bind us to any foreign treaties. You could have saved a lot of money and time by inviting the cordless drill in my garage to represent the United States. While it might not have been as entertaining as Al Gore, it would have been a lot more useful!
Wasn’t it the Guardian which encouraged its readers to write to Ohio voters in 2004 urging them to vote for Kerry? The responses from the Ohio voters were along the lines of “we drove you out in 1776; now stay out.” The Guardian posted some of the responses, and I laughed until I hurt.
With Gore brokering the faux carbon indulgences deal and making BILLIONS.
This is a classic too......................
Bolton Bashes Gore’s Bali Buffoonery

As NewsBusters reported, Nobel Laureate Al Gore made a fool out of himself at the United Nations climate change meeting in Bali Thursday by chastising America for having the exact same global warming policy the Clinton administration had when he was vice president in 1997.
Marvelously, former U.N. ambassador John Bolton was on Fox News the following day speaking inconvenient truths about the Global Warmingist-in-Chief that sycophantic media members disgracefully refuse to share with the citizenry.
At the least both political spheres recognize Gore’s scam at carbon emissions trading.
It’s good it scares the Stalinists as much as the Free Market Capitalists!!!
Bump !
Hey Euroweenies, you’re not going to tax me, or my fellow Americans, for this global warming BS Scam. Deal with it!
"Whew," said Gore to himself, "I saved my cash cow!"
Personally, I hope!
The Guardian and their readership are at the asymptotic left-wing edge of the bell-curve.
Let ‘em sweat in the dark...
Utter and complete nonsense aimed at destroying the economy of the USA. We survived a civil war, two world wars, a five decade long cold war, and now we’re going to be laid low by pure, unadulterated alarmist claptrap. Disgusting.
