Pelosi: Democratic Budget Begins to Reverse Years of Neglect
Speaker Nancy Pelosi ^ | 12/17/2007 | Speaker Nancy Pelosi

Posted on 12/17/2007 12:55:16 PM PST by mdittmar

Washington, D.C. -- Speaker Nancy Pelosi issued the following statement responding to remarks by President Bush this morning on the nation’s economy:

“The President’s statement this morning fails to grasp that middle-class families are working harder but earning less, while facing record gas prices, failing mortgages, and rising home heating bills.  If President Bush thinks this is success, I would hate to see his definition of failure.

“Even as middle-class families are struggling, the President’s budget plan gutted energy independence, cut home heating assistance for seniors, undermined cancer research, robbed promised funding from K-12 education, and slashed Pell grants and college financial aid.

“Democrats will pass a budget this week that rejects the President’s misplaced priorities in each of those areas and begins to reinvest in the middle class.  While the President’s stubborn opposition will deny Americans the full investment they deserve in these priorities, the Democratic budget begins to reverse seven years of neglect and charts a New Direction that invests in energy independence, health care, and education for America’s future."

I don’t understand with 3 Trillion in spending anyone was neglected. Look at all the programs that did not even exist years ago that even more money has been spent on.

Who, except the taxpayers have been neglected?

Exactly how does the Federal Govt spending more money “help” us middle-class families? What would help us would be if the Govt would pare down by about 30%.

““The President’s statement this morning fails to grasp that middle-class families are working harder but earning less,”

Yet middle class wages continue to rise beyond inflation.

What a liar.

The first reaction is (of course) to point out Nancy Bimbo’s “N” lies (where N is a very large number). The more sane reaction is to thank God that the other side is such a rare collection of collossal ignorance. Keep it up, Nancy. When you’re bored (which must be often), just think of which McDonalds you would be serving at had you not s*****d a rich man.

gutted, cut, undermined, robbed, and slashed - that’s what cut-and-run Nanny and her squat-to-pee minions in the House would have done to our troops in Iraq. I’m thankful we were able to block her cowardice.

General Pelosi continues to remind voters she’s a lightweight.

Works for me.

30%?? Get real. Trim it by 70% and settle on 50%. A 30% haircut probably would take it back to 1995 levels.

Well, Nancy, if you want to pay our fuel bill, go right ahead. It would probably be a bit lower if the Democrats hadn’t blocked every energy initiative since 2000, and if clinton hadn’t put some of our best coal off limits before that as a favor to one of his crooked Asian donors.

Is the average person working harder?
Is the average person "earning less"??
Gas prices are up -- check.
Failing mortgages -- what does that even mean???
rising home heating bills -- Uhhhhh, isn't this really a re-statement of Gas prices going up? Out of ammo already??

"The President’s statement this morning fails to grasp that middle-class families are working harder but earning less"

How does taxing me MORE result in MORE take-home pay?

I know these idiots are not math-challenged, so their rhetoric must not be intended for the middle class, which is too small to effect a change. The large block of voting democrats, who wish to live at the expense of the middle and upper pay classes, will use this as an excuse to support the fleecing of Americans. Thieves.

What I am paying in taxes would be a viable living wage if I weren’t taxed so heavily to pay for dumb-a55 social programs, “internal improvements” (thank you Henry Clay/Lincoln), and the salaries of a BLOATED federal bureaucracy!

ruefully

Easy one! 110th CONgre$$ >Photo Sharing and Video Hosting at Photobucket

Democrats will pass a budget this week that rejects the President’s misplaced priorities...

Let's get one thing straight you ignorant (blank).
YOU are merely members of CONgre$$ put in office by a handful of ignorant morons. You personally are in office with 110,000 votes.

Meanwhile, the entire country votes for the president and President Bush won with 63,000,000 votes. It is HIS responsibility to set the budget. You have a right to tweak it, but the American people voted for President Bush to set priorities.

Dear God, how I loathe you miscreants!

She says “middle class”, but he ones she is pandering to are those dependent on government money. To her “the rich” are everyone who doesn’t draw government benefits and who actually work for a living.

More like 2001 levels. Govt has grown more than 30% since Bush took office. Yes, I'd love to see it pared by 70% but you and I both know that will never happen. Heck, even a 30% cut will never happen.

Think bigger. We could cut 50 % and not even draw blood
