The F404 has proven to be underpowered for the Tejas. The F414 is larger and would require significant redesign of the Tejas.

Would the EJ200 fit in the Tejas in place of the F404?

I think one would need to look at the dimensions of the Eurojet before commenting on that.My guess is that the Eurojet is a smaller engine than the F-414,but then size isn’t everything.The French M-88(3) is also a good option for what it’s worth.

I maybe stretching it too far,but the engine picked from among the 3 is most likely to be found on the winner of the IAF’s MRCA programme!!
