Is there some clamoring for an independent candidate? I certainly don’t see it. I wonder who supposedly is urging Bloomberg to run. I can’t imagine why anyone wants him too when his record is largely indistinguishable from the Demo candidates.
The only clamoring I’ve seen is in re: RP being urged to do it. I’ve heard whispers in re: Bloomberg and an independent run, but would have to actually be interested enough to go hunt the rumors up. I’m sure he’s very serious, but so far, nobody cares. He’d probably add to the ticket of whoever the Dem candidate is. Well, Hillary or Obama, but not the silky anti-corporatist.

Remember what happened with the Senate immigration bill? There are in fact a lot of folks who are disaffected from the Demopublicans who tried to ram that down our throats. Ross Perot tapped into that in 1992, but Bloomberg is so similar to Hillary/Obama it’s hard to see what he brings to the game except a billion dollar marketing campaign. Spending a billion dollars on advertising might get him 20% of the vote.
