From someone who's been in Balad/Anaconda during the Holiday Season in 2005, the cards that I received from the 1st Sergeant "To Any Servicemember" meant a lot to me. And I answered every one of them. I've since retired, and now I send cards to the troops to let them know they are in my thoughts and prayers always.
I may have hung up my uniform for good, but the camaraderie will always stay with me.
