There is persistent speculation in the jackson legal community that the telephone wiretapping of scruggs caught lott having some conversation which he should not have.
I don’t think 2 days is a coincidence.

Lott wanted to retire before Katrina.
He decided to stay on for a while until he felt comfortable that he could leave.
He did a great service to MS by staying on.
That BIL is a huge Democrat and Clinton supporter.
