On the heels of President Bush's second veto of a major expansion of the State Children's Health Insurance Program, Democrats have relented and agreed to an 15 month extension of the existing program.

House and Senate aides from both parties confirmed on Monday night that there was a tentative deal to extend the SCHIP program through March of 2009, but without the extra $35 billion Democrats have been pushing. While one House GOP aide said that would be a "gift" to Republicans, Democratic sources said their party leaders could still easily call for another vote on expanding the program close to next year's elections in an effort to force Republicans to vote again against children's health insurance.

“Dummie” W beats the Dems again.”

Pretty easy with a veto pen! Too bad he didn’t kill the whole program.

They could fund it with all the money they’ll save by not builing the border fence. And insure all the illegals too! Awesome!! What scum the dems are.

” but without the extra $35 billion Democrats have been pushing. “

Half truths as usual. It was without the $35 Billion and the inclusion of dependents up to 25 years of age AND families making up to God knows how much money!

Even with this long-term extension, Democrats aren't letting go of SCHIP as a political issue. They are planning a Jan. 23 veto override vote _ just days before President Bush gives his final State of the Union address.

Go ahead ya STOO-PID Dems, perfect timing.

Dubya can then outline how the Rats plan will HURT the average (non union) working family NOT help them. Sure the wage threshold will be raised and more 'kids' covered but this now 'free Medical Insurance' will in effect cost the average (non union) worker more money.

Every owner of a small to mid-size company will be going over theri employee records with a fine tooth comb. Any employee who falls under the 'new & improved' (sarc) SCHIP will have their now company provided and paid for health Insurance benifit CANCELED and will be told to enroll in SCHIP. So the once 'free and non taxable benefit' will disappear. And the Company will now pocket the money saved.

And any Joe Blow who goes to the boss and says
'hey you're saving $600.00 a month on 'my' bennie, now that its gone I want the money on my check',

will be tossed out on his ear faster than you can say 'Now Hiring'.

So go ahead Dems, make a BIG deal out of this and shoot yourself in the foot -- again.

Naturally the only fly in the ointment is that Dubya and the Admin have to explain it to the Sheeple so they get the point - expanded SCHIP hurts them. But 'communication' hasn't exactly been their strong suit.
