America's President Deserves Thanks And Respect
Townhall.com ^ | December 19, 2007 | Mitt Romney

As Americans prepare for the holidays with their families and loved ones, we have many challenges to face but also many reasons to be thankful. We are thankful we live in a nation that is still a land of freedom, hope and opportunity. And we can be thankful that President Bush has kept us safe. Too often our politicians in Washington and on the campaign trail seem to have forgotten this simple fact.

It was disheartening when Senator Hillary Clinton (D-NY) questioned the sworn testimony of General David Petraeus, the troop commander of our forces in Iraq, when he reported on the success of the surge. A disbelieving Senator Clinton said reports of progress require "the willing suspension of disbelief." We now know beyond any reasonable doubt that Senator Clinton was wrong and General Petraeus was right, and yet to this day she has refused to apologize for her unwarranted attack on the integrity of one of our finest soldiers. Even in my own party, Governor Mike Huckabee criticized President Bush by accusing him of "an arrogant bunker mentality" in dealing with other nations around the world. Just like Hillary Clinton, Mike Huckabee has refused to apologize.

It was not always this way.

If the Mitt Wit somehow got the nomination, I guarantee you he will flip-flop and rip Bush a new one on the war on terror in the general election.

Flip only believes what he says at the moment he says it. After that, he can and will change his mind for political gain.

A good reminder. But a half century ago we did not defeat communism. He might want to rethink that line.

A half century ago, our mothers and fathers in the Greatest Generation came together to defeat fascism and communism

Um, Governor, please explain to this public-screwl edumicated NCO where we defeated communism fifty years ago? We weren't fighting communism in WW2, we drew a stalemate in Korea, and our own people handed the enemy the win in Vietnam.

And last I looked, communism is alive and well on the Left side of the aisle in CONgress.

Thank you Governor Romney. This is very presidential...and true, very true.

Being President is no easy task. Tell Americans the truth. Be firm about our illegal immigration problem, because it's a matter of national security. Help revamp our tax system, and social security. Fight to pay our military more. Be fiscally conservative. Talk to us and tell us why you're doing what you're doing so we can back your decisions. ..............No pressure. Oh, and if you do win in the primaries, please pick either Duncan Hunter or Michael Steele as VP ;-)

I think we were fighting communism in WW2. The commies were very active in the Chinese theater.

“...After that, he can and will change his mind for political gain.”

That’s what Politicians do, run with the now. It’s traditional for Politicians to do so, but Now with the New Media, that practice will have to cease as it’s difficult to tell a pathological liar from a Politician with the ability to download yesterday, last week, last month, or last years perspective on the same issue.

As I said in another post last week Romney is a good Politician and practices Politicking well, but he is caught in the middle of historical change as the New Media finds its legs. Bad timing, but we have others we can count on whom have stayed the course and away from Professional Politicking.

Duncan Hunter and Fred Thompson have pretty much continued to be precisely whom they are in real life.

Yes I am grinning as I write this, but am serious about Romney being a Professional Politician and getting caught in the act of being one. I’m serious on the latter point.

I want Hunter, and will vote for him.

Funny thing, that I am never included nor asked to participate in any other than FR “polls”.
Almost as funny as the fact that I have never, not even once, been summoned to jury duty.
