Running 5th with only 11.3% support nationally, can Thompson really win the RNC nomination and if so, how?
(snip)
The question is this - will social conservatives continue to hold their ground? If they do, Thompson wins.

In the end, a Two Man Race
I predict that the Republican race will ultimately narrow to only a two man race between Fred Thompson and Mitt Romney. Romney looks Presidential. But Thompson is Presidential. Thats not only my opinion, its a fact
Romney calls himself a conservative, but Thompson is a conservative. This is also fact, not opinion.
So, if conservatives are working to nominate the most Presidential conservative in the Republican race, Thompson is the likely winner.
Can it happen? Thompson seems to be counting on it!
Watch Iowa closely

Buckle up...
OK Fred, do like the car commercial,
‘shaka dat a$$..........
Let’s go man!
If Tancredo did support Thompson, it would be a blow to all those anti-immigration types who beat up Thompson’s record.
Can Tancredo make a difference in Colorado for Thompson in the general? Nobody that I’ve seen has mentioned him as a Veep candidate, but he might be something for Thompson.
Romney looks Presidential. But Thompson is Presidential.
This guy is telling alot of “facts” that are his opinions. Pulling it right out of his bung hole.
major barf alert.
yeah, pigs will fly. Thompson has been sinking in Iowa, SC and other conservative states. He is out of top-4 in both Iowa and SC. Yes, McCain and Guliani are ahead of him. He is 5th (but he is leading Ron Paul in some states - hurray)
Thompson’s only real achievement in senate was authoring CFR which was unconstitutional, liberal and opposed by every conservate in this country. If that makes him a conservative, then everything is possible in the fantasy world. Luckily, conservatives know better and voting takes place in real world.
Here is a reality check: This is a race between Romney, Huckabee and Guliani. McCain has also a semi-credible shot. Ron Paul and Fred Thompson supporters live in a fantasy world where the exact opposite of everything is true. Have fun, though:)
Hope there is something more to this than wishful thinking. Someone is going to mount a challenge to the top in the first three primaries. I hope it isn’t McCain. He’s a spent force.
Unlike some others, I do have some respect for Romney. I just hope Fred can muster a challenge in Iowa.
And I’ve had enough of Huckabee. He’s not a serious candidate sorry. Doesn’t even keep up on foreign affairs or the NIE report for heaven’s sake.
>>Running 5th with only 11.3% support nationally, can Thompson really win the RNC nomination and if so, how?<<
5th place is only 8.7% behind first place... an incredibly tight race. 2nd place in the Democrat race is behind by way more than that.
This IS IT. I have been seeing this for a while. For conservatives, there really is only Thompson and Romney. And Romney’s voice would sound delicious reading the Chicago White Pages. He has gorgeous good looks and could play a President on TV.
Thompson doesn’t have the voice, his face looks like a hound dog’s, and he HAS played a President on TV (or some other leader - I am not sure), and everything out of his mouth is smart, concise, clear, and conservative. He’s funny but dry. He has shown he’s not a follower and he can stand up to any world leader we need him to. So while I could live with President Romney, I REALLY want to help get President Thompson into the White House!!
“Romney looks Presidential. But Thompson is Presidential. Thats not only my opinion, its a fact”
Huh? How is this a fact and not opinion?!? I liked the first fact, Thompson is running 5th with only 11.3% support nationally. Thats a fact not an opinion.
Go get’em Fred.
Go get’em Fred.
I don’t have any inside information, just have heard a couple people speculate.
I am planning to attend Tancredo’s announcement if I can get away at 2:00.
Thanks for warning us about your post with a “barf alert”, it truly was nauseating.
“Huh? How is this a fact and not opinion?!? “
you forgot that we are talking about fantasy world here. There, real-world opinions are facts, and real-world facts are opinions. For example, if the most recent polls tell that candidate is sinking, then the fantasy world fact is that he is rising.
Every time candidate gets an endorsement (after which his poll numbers drop by 5%) then in fantasy world, it is a proof that he is rising and campaign is brilliant.
It took a while to understand the logic, but now I know it.
dude, Fred looks way presidential to me.
He is the guy I want staring down Al Qaeda
ok, so who is the real conservative in the top 4?
Excellent!
