NASHUA Speaking to about 40 BAE Systems workers in what he called a "town hall meeting," Republican presidential candidate Duncan Hunter again blasted an opponent because his former company is doing business with a Chinese defense contractor.
Hunter, a U.S. congressman from California, called on Bain Capital, a company founded by former Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney, another GOP presidential contender, to drop its strategic partnership with Chinese defense contractor Huawei Technologies in a bid to buy U.S. defense contractor 3Com.
Hunter will also ask Romney to use his influence with Bain to end the proposed merger between Huawei and 3Com.
The congressman called the merger "unpatriotic" and a threat to national security.
During his address, which concluded with questions from BAE workers on their lunch breaks, Hunter touched on conservative themes that have become linchpins of his campaign.
"Immigration is the hottest issue in show business right now," Hunter said.
He touted the double-wall border near San Diego that his legislation helped build to keep out drug traffickers and other illegal immigrants from crossing over from Mexico.
The issue isn't just about Mexicans....

Slapdowntime.... Go Hunter, kick his BUTT....
(GO FRED!)
Duncan Hunter ping!
Duncan Hunter, the only Conservative left in the race. Hunter for President!!!!
Go for it Hunter.
B4DH!
Well at least Hunter remains true.
There is another candidate Fred Thompson who’s credentials are unrivaled.
When asked what he would do about the illegal aliens, he said without hesitation, ""Well, they have to go home. Most of them have homes in Mexico and they are sending US dollars into Mexico to their families. They are gutting funds that belong to US citizens." That is not a verbatim quote but it is the meat of what he said.
He's the only candidate who I've heard who doesn't hedge around the hedge when that subject comes up. Hunter is SOLID. He has INTEGRITY. He is a real live Christian. No hedging about that either.
I mean, I built a few subwoofers for home theater entertainment on some military bases, I guess that makes me a defense contractor, too!
As far as 3COM goes, I'd say their past stock performance shows it's pretty much a dog of a stock. Let them drop their dollars to buy a dying company, and let the current investors in 3COM reinvest in better things for the economy.

Year-end Top 10 stories What do you think is the biggest story in Orange County in 2007?
I explained why I adopted it and offered to not use it if you didn't want me to. I thought it was great and it wouldn't hurt to spread it around 2X.
So, what's your pleasure? Yea or Nix. Whatever you say is fine with me.
It’s reply 17.
Or so you would like to manipulate us to believe. Cannot forget Thompson’s ONLY showing of ‘leadership’ with leading the fight for campaign finance reform and for MFN status for China as well as not punishing companies that hire illegals. Thompson isn’t a ‘leader’ in the way we can trust. Thompson is no Duncan Hunter. And Thompson looks like a corpse and will not play well in a general election. Enough.
You’ve got that right. All other candidates election posturing does not match their record. Hunter has been solid and is the best all-around candidate and exactly who this country needs to lead us in these tiimes.
OH< BE MY GUEST GO RIGHT AHEAD!
