I second that.
But remember....the times picked putin and in 1939 picked hitler as man of the year. Both men with blood on their hands. So much for times.
MOY is not an honor. It’s a recognition of the person (or, sometimes, thing) who most shaped the year’s events, “for good or ill.” That is how it has always been defined. When Time put Hitler on the cover once and Stalin twice, it wasn’t praise.
In 2001, the MOY should have been Osama bin Laden. Time wussed out in choosing Giuliani.
Remember, the “Time Person of the Year” is not neccesarily an honor, merely the person who had the biggest impact during the year.
As for the “FR Person of the Year”, which I assume is an honor, I’m going to have to go with:
“Prominent Americans Who Were Attacked By the Far Left Fringe”
From David Petraeus, who changed the course of the war, while being called a liar and “Betray-us”, to Rush Hudson Limbaugh III, who would not submit to being smeared, even when 41 dumb-as-a-box-of-nails senators demanded that he apologize for something he did not say. They showed patience, humor, and humility even when their integrity was questioned and their careers endangered. For that, this award is for them.
