“Aaron Sorkin the screenwriter.”
George Crile, CBS producer, is the author of the book that the screenplay was adapted from. Crile produced the infamous CBS documentary, “The Uncounted Enemy, A Vietnam Deception” that led to a lawsuit by General Westmoreland against CBS.
These guys never change.
I got the “Charlie Wilson’s War” book for my dad from the library.
He said it’s a great read.
But from what I intuit, Charlie Wilson wouldn’t be at home in Today’s
Democratic Party. He was too anti-communists and too much for a
good time.
I hope some commentators and film critics point that out.
“Julia robets is trying to act in this one so that was DOA right there.”
The real reason I won’t see the movie:
HEARING Julia Roberts trying to channel Ann Richards (the late lady-
governor of Texas) with a HIDEOUS, OVER-THE-TOP Southern-Texas accent/drawl.
The first time I saw the movie commercials and heard Roberts do that
“Oh, That Charlie!” cackle...I said “no $$$ for that film from me!”
Yes, I admit that’s a idiosyncratic take on my part.
I am going today to see this movie in the hopes they do justice to this great book. If the movie is a leftists wet dream Ill be the first to say it, but I hope not.
I will be glad to.
bump
Bye bye Tom Hanks! That’s was your last chance with me...
The book really really pi**ed me off.
There were things that Charlie was doing and being praised for, while Ollie North was getting reamed for doing 1/100th of what Charlie was.
It was all politics and it showed how bad Tip Oneil and the rest of the Rats were at the time. The book was good, it was the subject matter that got me going.
I expected as much but won’t let that spoil it for me and plan to see it anyway. For the most part the story is a great one and absolutely true.
yes - he was what they called a yellow dog Democrat
For some reason this thing really, really frosts me...it’s outrageous. They control Hollywood and Hollywood, unfortunately, controls history right now. We need to fight back on this, and I’m not kidding.
Drudge has this link up - that’s a start
Please ping me when you report back..I am VERY curious as to how they portray Republicans in this movie.
Aaron Sorkin is a clever—dare I say brilliant?—writer. He’s also a lying son of a bitch and a filthy propagandist.
Mike Nichols, Tom Hanks, Adam Sorkin and Julia Roberts....need I say more?
BINGO!!!! You hit it on the head. Democrats are lauding Charlie, for the exact same things they chastised Ollie North for.
All they care about is making “D’s” look good, to the detriment of the country.
Awesome; may I add that a large portion of the gay community accepts as sacred to idea that Ronald Reagan is responsible for the AIDS crisis due to his inaction and a refusal to fund studies because he hated gay people? You can't even debate them, it is an accepted fact.
If there is a "gay canon", it's in there!
Is Wilson still around? He represented the district adjoining mine, and I remember seeing him on the local news all the time, back in the 80s. Always thought well of him for his Afghan efforts. Seems strange, thinking back, how there actually used to be a few anti-commie Dems. They’re now a long-extinct species, to put it mildly.
Please ping me as well. No way Hanks, Roberts, and Hoffman sign on to this movie without some kind of agenda.
Will do.
