It's amazing to me how few people know the real origins of Kwanzaa. My liberal sister-in-law actually thought that it was a woman that originated the whole nonsense, but I shed some light on the subject for her. http://www.textbookleague.org/114kwanz.htm

Kuumba (koo-OOM-bah): Creativity
Using creativity and imagination to make your communities better than what you inherited.

Imani (ee-MAH-nee): Faith
Believing in our people, our families, our educators, our leaders, and the righteousness of the African American struggle.

The Seven Principles of the Symbionese Liberation Army:

Umoja-La Unidad-Unity
To strive for and maintain unity in our household, our nation and in the Symbionese federation.

Kujichagulia-La Libre Determinacion-Self Determination
To define ourselves, name ourselves, speak for ourselves and govern ourselves.

Ujima-Trabajo Colectivo y Responsibilidad-Collective Work and Responsibility
To build and maintain our nation and federation together by making our brothers' and sisters' and the Federation's problems our problems and solving them together.

Ujamaa-Produccion Cooperativa-Cooperative Production

To believe in our unity, our leaders, our teachers, our people, and in the righteousness and victory of our struggle and the struggle of all oppressed and exploited people.
