Teaching truth on the sly (Christian government school teachers should quit!)

Mr. Williams ( Dr. Walter Williams author of the essay "Academic Slums") is very blessed to have a job in which he can publish his opinion and get paid for it. Teachers, on the other hand, must be very careful never to say anything that doesn't toe the party line or show that they don't march in lockstep with the minds of whoever is in charge. So when I am given a science curriculum to teach, I must teach what it says even if I believe that Darwinism is a complete load of hooey forced upon us by scientific religious fanatics who look for any reason to reject God. When I try to teach Social Studies, I am supposed to ignore true history and teach that white people came to North America to kill the Native Americans and get rich. I must also use whatever method is now the current fashion in teaching and follow whatever rules the dictator (read: principal) has passed down, even if they show a complete lack of understanding of the children in my class and breaks tradition of every school I have been in since I started Kindergarten at 4 years old.

Luckily, I had a relative who took as her personal motto: "Women who behave don't make history!" I try to be very discreet when teaching. I have quietly told students truth after reading PC lies from a textbook. I make no secret of the fact that I go to church two times a week, that I have a life outside of the classroom, and I don't stick entirely to the textbooks but use teachable moments to tell my students about the real world.

One more thing:

What I have posted is true. These ideas will catch on because they are true.

Thank you for what you do !!! My 3 children attended public school (with some home schooling in later years) and I was always grateful for the teachers who had the courage and wisdom to teach them a broader spectrum, to include the Judeo-Christian perspective.

Interestingly, this was most obvious in our kids’ elementary school in the music program. After the traditional teacher left, she was replaced by one whose selections strained to be politically correct. Conversely, my daughter’s high school music teacher could not have been much more outspoken in professing her beliefs and NO ONE complained. Her musical selections were exquisite.

The idea of fleeing instead of fighting the cultural war going on in education today does not help our students in public schools. Look at our inner cities schools to see the result of ‘white flight.’

The notion that all Christians should flee public school instead of staying and spreading the word would be a short term fix, at best.
