(KUNMING) -- Twenty-three people were confirmed sick, including three seriously, from food poisoning on Monday in southwest China's Yunnan Province, local government sources reported on Thursday.
At 7:30 a.m. on Monday, 23 people, including an 81-year old woman and a four-year-old child, fell ill after eating "tangyuan",a rice dumpling soup, for breakfast in Wanyaoshu Village of Luxi County.
The 23 people were Ma Raolin, a middle-aged villager, and his family and friends, who were preparing for the funeral ceremony of Ma's wife in Ma's house.
The poisoned were rushed to the county hospital, where three are in a critical condition.
Officials from the provincial disease control center collected samples of the soup and found the food poisoning had been caused by a toxic pesticide known as "Leguo". They are investigating how it managed to get into the soup but details have not been released.
On November 11, six people were killed and two others hospitalized in a similar food poisoning case in central China's Hubei Province. They also ate "tangyuan" but in this case the cook mistook rat poison for flour.
Lead poisoning?
Maybe they were stretching the soup like they did the pet food when they added melamine. These people have no morals and greed is their basic principle. Were I going to the Olympics, I would bring all my food from home and prepare it in my hotel room, because you can’t trust the Chinese.
Never buy American food from the 7.36 Yuan store.
Eating tangyuan on the Winter Solstice is a required custom.
Ingredients
For the glutinous rice balls:
3 Tb peanut butter
2 Tb instant sesame powder
2 Tb icing or confectioners sugar
3 Tb roasted sesame seeds
1 ¾ cups glutinous rice flour
For the syrup:
1 piece ginger
½ cup brown sugar
1 piece mandarin orange peel
Instructions
Mix up peanut butter, instant sesame powder and icing sugar and form into 20 small pieces. Roll the smalls pieces into balls and then roll it on the sesame seed so that its all coated. This is the filling for the rice ball. Its recommended that you chill this filling so that it is easier to handle as it is very soft.
To make the glutinous rice ball coating you make one layer at a time until the size of the ball is double the filling size. You need to make sure that there are no cracks on the surface.
Put the glutinous rice flour in a bowl. Add a filling, swirl it around the flour to coat it. Take the coated balls and dip it into cold water for a second and then put it back into the flour for further coating. Repeat this until the size of the ball is double the size of the filling. You might repeat these steps at least ten times for each ball.
Boil the rice balls until they float to the top of the pot.
To prepare the syrup, boil the ginger, brown sugar and mandarin orange peel together until the sugar is dissolved. To serve, put in the rice balls into the syrup.
Just joking in my quick assessment (with all the China, lead headlines), not that this is something to be joking about, mind you. Your assumption would be as good as anything I could come up with until the results are out.
What percentage of the population is that ... something along the line of .00000001?
Soup to die for...

wonder how good the repeat business is at that restaurant now?
Maybe they should buy the cook some glasses.
Hey, thanks I have all of the stuff to make this ... i was wondering what I was going to use the instant sesame powder for...
I know liberals especially those in the liberal media are the ultimate evil. Whoever the liberal media supports I know is evil and must be harming freedom, capitalism or mankind and whoever the liberal media is against must be doing some good for capitalism, freedom or the advancement of mankind.

And since I’ve seen so many anti-China stories in the liberal media in the past year, I know that China must be doing some good and I don’t buy that liberal media scare mongering just like I don’t buy their global warming scare mongering.
