Pakistan is a key U.S. ally in the war on terror, and suspicion for the mosque attack fell on pro-Taliban or al-Qaeda militants active in northwest Pakistan _ near the Afghan border _ where the attack occurred.

India, Pakistan's foremost enemy, sees Pakistan as our key ally in the War on Terror. And India is not a predominant Islamic country, thus The Hindu as its major newspaper. Pakistan is an Islamic country. We might not like what Musharraf is doing over there but he is walking a very fine tight rope trying to hold onto power. Short of us providing occupational troops I am not sure what we can expect from him. A shift in focus in troop deployment toward Afghanistan might help our allies and bring more balance to the region.
