I read a book a few weeks ago in which the author deals with this situation.
I don't remember the title, but the basic gist of the plot is that Al-Qaeda launches another wave of terrorist attacks on the US and Great Britain, killing over ten thousand civilians (they used ex-Soviet chemical weapons). US and British intelligence agencies are able to identify twenty-five of the thirty attackers as Saudi nationals, so our governments confront Saudi Arabia with the information. They respond by kicking our nationals out of the country and threatening to cut off our oil.
After several weeks of attempting to talk to the Saudis, the United States, Great Britain, and our Allies launch airborne and amphibious assaults against Saudi Arabia, quickly overrunning the oil fields and most of the country. At the same time, we invite the Egyptian military to invade across the Red Sea to secure Mecca and Medina.
In the end, Allied forces overrun and occupy eighty percent of Saudi Arabia in a matter of weeks. The remaining twenty percent, centered around the cities of Mecca and Medina, is left for the House of Saud. The land that we occupy (which includes virtually all of Saudi Arabia's oil fields) is placed under joint US-British administration for twenty years, at which time a local, democratic government that has been established and supported by the West, assumes control and turns Saudi Arabia into a thriving pro-Western democracy.

We should invade Iraq and Kuwait, they have 40% of the worlds oil. Put user-friendly goverments in and we can oil down to $30.00 Pb in no time.

We should invade the offices of Democrats who won’t let us drill in the United States.
To: gunservative
Invading a country is not going to bring down the price but increase this countries refining capacity and increasing the drilling in protected areas will bring the price down.

How about sierra club and all of the anti American “environmental” wacko groups that are stopping progress in this country. If we do not start building refineries and generation plants we will become a 3rd world country.

Washington DC and most State Capitols.
Get the taxes out of the stuff and it’d be a lot cheaper.

According to Chavez, if the United States invades Iran we can expect crude oil to soar to $200 a barrel. ... Well, let's see. We invaded Iraq and oil has soared to $100 a barrel. If we have to invade someone, can't we at least pick a country below the $200 level, like perhaps Monaco? They also have cool postage stamps ;-)
