Perhaps, but if somebody in the ‘hood was sufficiently well-informed to be able to promptly ID the perpette, you’d think they’d be able to ID the surviving perp as well.

Homicide is not a crime. It’s just a factual term for the killing of one human by another. Murder and manslaughter are crimes, as is NEGLIGENT homicide, but in the last case the real crime is negligence while the homicide is just the unintentional result of the criminal negligence.

Hence the term justifiable homicide.

In these heah pahts, when someone dahs durin a robbery, no matter if’n it’s the victim or one of the perpettes raiders, the offendin parties are charged with the killin.

-cough cough- Sorry.

The homeowner is credited with one shot to the ten ring, with the bonus that the perps will be charged with murder during commission of a felony.

And yes, our local news bureaus are staffed with idiots.

What is a “botched” home invasion? That is just stupid concept. Almost as silly is “robbery gone bad”.

If you look up the definition it will make sense.

Officers are also looking for Holt's other accomplice and a white Chevrolet sports car.

Seems like a contradiction in terms.

You’re right. “Botched” makes it sound like they are critical of the perps because they did not do the home invasion correctly. I’m not sure what alternative term you’d use, though...

I’m all for self-defense, but is this the right time to be posting such an article?

I went to Wal-Mart today and left the car unlocked, the keys in the ignition and my XM radio in plain sight. I’m glad I still live in a place where I can do that.

I've been to the Huntsville Wal*Mart, near Madison, more than once and I assure you, Madison, just west of Huntsville, would seem to be that kind of place.

Well, I used to live in a place where we did that. One day a guy from out of town came through, picked up a friend’s car, and took it down the road. We locals were a pretty safe/ sane bunch, and it was a small town, but it only took one criminal (and a growing awareness of Original Sin) to change my mind for good.

If I were the DA and this state had the Felony
Murder law, we could charge the other two with murder.

My Glock 23 is on my hip at all times other than when I go to bed. Any potential home invader would be wise to steer clear of my house.

Robbery turned homicide?....no, it turned into a perp dead, another happy ending.
For her birthday I bought the lessons, range time and a small .357 with Mag-Safe +P rounds for concealed carry. For Cmas I purchased for her a concealed carry purse. She is permitted, trained, and has the will and equipment. Gawd, I hope she never has to use any of it. I sleep better now when she works the nightshift.

The police still use the age-old crimefighting technology known as the 'mugshot book'.

You must live in a 'real nice' neighborhood.

It's actually an upscale neighborhood. But I deal with criminals on a daily basis so I'm always prepared. Besides, living in a nice neighborhood is no guarantee as that doctor's family in Connecticut found out.
