Survey of 800 Likely Voters; December 10-18, 2007
Seventy-four percent (74%) of Republican voters see Rudy Giuliani as politically moderate or liberal. Fifty-nine percent (59%) say the same about John McCain while 43% hold that view of Mitt Romney. A Rasmussen Reports national telephone survey finds that 41% now see Mike Huckabee as moderate or liberal and 39% see Fred Thompson in that manner.
For all the candidates except John McCain, those figures are higher than a month ago.
Huckabee has seen the biggest jump15 percentage points (41% now while a month ago 26% said he was moderate or liberal). Still, 43% view him a politically conservative (up five points from a month ago). While Republican voters are evenly divided on his ideology, Fred Thompson is the only candidate seen as more conservative...

Shows you have no idea of what you are talking about.
Man, Hunter isn’t even on the radar.
I had to look back on your posts because I thought you are a Fred supporter. I agree to some extent to your desire for a more civil fight, but we have snakes out there. If your desire is to try and stop attacks among “Republicans” then you are on track, because all these men are fighting under said banner.
But here you will find that most are Conservatives first, and that is the banner we carry to the fight above the party itself. Those candidates who say they are Conservative but do not bear that out in deed will get called on it. It is just that simple, and all Petronski is doing.
This is a fight for the soul of a nation, expect some punches thrown at those who counter what is in the long term best interests, even if they SAY they are not...
Thank You. That is exactly my point. I don’t mind the attacks on the “candidates” at this stage of the game. It is the over the top ones I don’t care for. Plus the incessant attacks on one in particular that brings up the posibilities of other motives.
If you went back far enough in my posts (months) you will see I’m a long time Fred supporter.
“He also has a record.”
Sure does, one that says that he’s a lying SOB!
I dont mean 'smoosh' in the sense of a 65%-35% victory.
I mean in the sense of the GOP winning more states than expected, and that the GOP could attract support from non-traditional voter segments.
I truly believe the Iraq-WOT issue will have blown up in the dem-libs' faces, and the dems vowing to raise taxes is also a loser.
Not to mention the fact that Dems, for all their self-righteous talk about diversity, will be revulsed at the idea of a sHrill woman as Commander in Chief, and at the idea of a quasi former Muslim living in the White House.
I haven't yet spoken to a Democrat who LIKES sHrillary.
And that makes a big difference in election turnout.
As far as attacks on the “one in particular” which I assume is Mitt, I hate to say it but there is no ulterior motive, the level of trust in Mitt’s “Conversion” and the original attacks by his supporters on both Fred Thompson and even worse his wife Jeri, have brought on some animosity, and I fear it is somewhat deserved.
He was purposefully omitted. The MSM and all the pollsters have been doing that for months now.
We cannot have an honest republic without an honest media, and we most certainly do not have an honest media.
To the rescue. Great zot if I’ve ever seen one.
Doesn't the dissonance give you a headache?
:OP
Given the zot, it’s toasty sh!t...
What an idiot, especially for one that has been here for a while...
Nothing like a good ZOT on Christmas day.
Most of us are for Fred Thompson. That’s just the way the current opinion rides here. The Romney people can be pretty nasty and thin skinned because they think we are opposing the man’s religion. I don’t like his religion. But it’s his liberalism that will make me oppose him. Everyone has the right to the faith of their choice.
I’ve posted a couple of real nasty responses here about my disappointment in and dislike of President Bush, but I keep them to a minimum and try not to wear out my welcome. I know there are people here that revere him. I don’t, but I’ll try not to make people unduly angry with the same points over and over.
But some other people think their long time pedigree on FR inoculates them from being tossed out of the place. The melee last spring should convince them otherwise. We are all guests in Mr. Robinson’s house and should behave as such. I’ve always been treated very well, even when I disagree with the prevailing views.
That will be the day the Republican party jumps the shark.
The whole “You guys are just bigots” thing is hilarious. Mitt being a Mormon should not be off limits at all, it is a legitimate issue.
The great irony for me in all that is the fact I can’t even get to his religion because his political positions are like a minefield that is all over the place. I can’t even get past that to care if he is a Mormon or not.
I hang out here because I am a Conservative who still votes Republican for now. That is the basis for everything I do politically. I too have had some issues with Bush, and many here have. But the war is the thing that gets him an ace in my game right now. So there we are with that, I think we all disagree with somethings he has done because he is not a dead solid Conservative, but he has kept out happy butts alive, which is a very conservative thing to do.
However, we can provide a very authentic simulated response...
“Blah, blah, blah, 3 percent, blah, blah, Fred sucks, blah, blah, Mitt is a beautiful man, yada, yada, yada...”
Amazing isn’t it, it is almost like the real thing.
Feel free to cut and paste anytime you feel like have a debate with any Romney supporter but don't have time to wait for a response...
Ronald Reagan did not misremember his NRA endorsements, or lack thereof. Ronald Reagan was not a gun grabber, and had strong, long standing Conservative creditionals. None of those things can be said about Romney.
He loses my vote on his outstanding lack of support for the Second Amendment, and the similar proscription in the Constitution of the Commonwealth of Massachusetts.
The people have a right to keep and bear arms for the common defense. Declaration of Rights, Article 17.
Ah.....a diplomat.
