Lead has shown up in Mexican candy also. I can understand how it shows up in Chinese paints, but how and why does it show up in candy?

It's the paint chips falling out of the child laborers hair.
A perfectly normal occurrence in Mexico.

Ink from the candy wrapper seeping thru, or in the latest case from the glass jar the candy came in.
