Apparently he hasn’t read the Jihad section in the Sunnah [ways and deeds of the Prophet Muhammad]

Narrated ‘Abdullah bin ‘Umar:
Allah’s Apostle said, “You (i.e. Muslims) will fight with the Jews till some of them will hide behind stones. The stones will (betray them) saying, ‘O ‘Abdullah (i.e. slave of Allah)! There is a Jew hiding behind me; so kill him.’ “
Volume 4, Book 52, Number 177:
Narrated Abu Huraira:
Allah’s Apostle said, “The Hour will not be established until you fight with the Jews, and the stone behind which a Jew will be hiding will say. “O Muslim! There is a Jew hiding behind me, so kill him.”
Volume 4, Book 52, Number 271:
Narrated Jabir:
The Prophet said, “Who is ready to kill Ka’b bin Ashraf (i.e. a Jew).” Muhammad bin Maslama replied, “Do you like me to kill him?” The Prophet replied in the affirmative. Muhammad bin Maslama said, “Then allow me to say what I like.” The Prophet replied, “I do (i.e. allow you).”
Volume 4, Book 52, Number 196:
Narrated Abu Huraira:
Allah ‘s Apostle said, “ I have been ordered to fight with the people till they say, ‘None has the right to be worshipped but Allah,’ and whoever says, ‘None has the right to be worshipped but Allah,’ his life and property will be saved by me except for Islamic law, and his accounts will be with Allah, (either to punish him or to forgive him.)”
Volume 4, Book 52, Number 46:
Narrated Abu Huraira:
I heard Allah’s Apostle saying, “The example of a Mujahid in Allah’s Cause— and Allah knows better who really strives in His Cause——is like a person who fasts and prays continuously. Allah guarantees that He will admit the Mujahid in His Cause into Paradise if he is killed, otherwise He will return him to his home safely with rewards and war booty.”

Since Blair has said all these things:
Blair has said the Quran strikes him as a reforming book “trying to return Judaism and Christianity to their origins, much as reformers attempted to do with the Christian church centuries later”
Blair spoke of the Quran as being inclusive.
According to Blair, Islam “extols science and knowledge and abhors superstition”.
Blair was very clear in his words when he said Islam “is practical and far ahead of its time in attitudes toward marriage, women, and governance”.
Blair certainly admires Islam. He said “under its guidance, the spread of Islam and its dominance over previously Christian or pagan lands were breathtaking. Over centuries, Islam founded an empire and led the world in discovery, art, and culture.”
Blair reminded us that “the standard-bearers of tolerance in the early Middle Ages were far more likely to be found in Muslim lands than in Christian ones”.
Blair said, “the faith of Islam is very peaceful and a very beautiful faith”.
I guess if he could believe that he could believe anything. No surprise he turned Catholic.
