I agree. He's likable and unlike the previous James Bond he used a gun before (i.e., Private Ryan).
Of course no one IMHO could top Sean Connery.

James Bond was born in 1919 according to his obit in "The Man with the Golden Gun". He had amnesia after his encounter with Blofield in "You Only Live Twice". That would make James 88 going on 89!
I once wrote a book treatment where he returns to Japan and discovers a son that he was unaware of due to his amnesia. I thought it would be way to carry on the family tradition of James Suzuki!!Of course he was an Aston Martin fan so Japanese sports sons are out of the question.
A 'new" Bond novel is in the making for 2008 but the latest Casino Royale sucked!

Agreed, Connery was the best! IMHO, Bond must be a Brit. But, Hanks may not be too as possibly Matt Helm or Ellery Queen maybe even Longstreet (the blind detective from New Orleans, based on Max Corrodos books). He is a good actor ... comedy and serious.

James Bond really was a creature of the Cold War.
You actually thought the new Casino Royale sucked....? I thought it was the best Bond flick since the Connery films of the '60's. Daniel Craig is much better than Brosnan, Dalton, or even Moore.

Woody Allen was a better Bond in an earlier Casino Royale!
Sherlock Holmes had a long professional career in film. The movies never really did justice to this character and Hollywood, (actually London studios) overdid and finally killed the genre.
Daniel Craig was too "Gay"!
